This place would change a lot if it were Supertopo’d. Gear details and run-outs - or mostly just the fear of them - are what cut back the real crowds - but for the grade it’s rarely serious.

Keep the crowds back. For one there is limited camping. The nature of the area make any rescue difficult and dangerous. You really need to be competent there. If you need to bail...you could be F'd.

That said it's an amazing place to have an adventure. To Supertopo it would not be that great an idea. Vague descriptions of routes is best. If you can look at the place with minimal description and say "yeah I can do that" then you probably can.

I have never really had an epic there but I felt like Rambo many times.

I agree with Donini. If you don't climb there, hiking down the SOB is worth while and then heading over to the base of the Painted Wall is a worthy trip. There's a good camping spot to boot if you go light weight.
