http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/federal-judge-manafort-case-skeptical-scope-mueller-investigation-n871401

"The judge said prosecutors wanted the former Trump campaign official to “sing,” but he worried that Manafort might also 'compose.' Judge Ellis then opined that the American people do not want a special counsel with unfettered power and even went so far as to ask when the investigation would conclude."

CNN's finally picked up on that story (Fox led with it earlier).

This could turn out to be a pretty big as it gives Trump a legitimate hook to continue his "witch hunt" narrative.
Seems like a pretty fair bet that they'll get Trump at least on some technicalities relating to Stormy D, so he's going to have come up with some kind of an angle.

I'm thinking the Giuliani stuff wasn't quite as random as it seemed either--since none of the stories Trump can tell related to Stormy D are really good for him, I think the strategy will be to get a bunch of different stories out there and take the position that no one, even Trump himself, can really know what happened since there are so many different versions!

Judge Ellis exhibited partisanship with those statements.

Nobody thinks the special counsel has unfettered powers. Mueller's mandate is restricted to a specific inquiry, and allows him to pursue attendant crimes as they are discovered. If anything, the mandate is too restrictive, because it only concerns Russian interference, not Ukrainian, Azerbailan, Cypriot or that of other countries with financial ties to Manfort, Trump, his campaign and to current cabinet-level White House officials.

The judge has no business asking when an investigation will end. It will end when the trail of relevant facts is exhausted. The whole truth is what is sought, not some selected, limited set of facts.

The judge's comments sound like the constant noise coming from the Trump Team echo chamber.

well blah blah blah

first, the Democrats did not, ever, during President Obama's terms, have a filibuster proof majority to pass legislation

if fact, for a very short period of time, some 30 days, they had 58 Dem Senators
and convinced the two Independent Senators to join them
while bringing in Kennedy in a wheelchair to vote

in order to pass the Health Care Act, all while enduring every delaying tactic to block to from your Republcans

during that same time period the Dems passed the Lilly Fair Pay Act, ensuring women get paid the same as men for work, explain why your Repubs voted against that

------

meanwhile, your Republicans have had control of the House, Senate, and Presidency for well over a year

and all they could manage was to add one and half trillion to the debt by passing a massive tax cut for corporations, while throwing a crumb to the rest

why don't your Republicans use their power nowadays to outlaw abortion, pass Federal laws ordering all adults to carry handguns, find ways to add another trillion to the debt

the biggest failure of your Republicans was their pathetic attempts to repeal the Dems healthcare law, could not do it, even with majority power, big talk no action

They did, in fact, have a filibuster-proof majority from July 7. 2009 (when Al Franken was officially seated as the Senator from Minnesota after the last of Norm Coleman’s challenges came to an end) to August 25, 2009 (when Ted Kennedy died, although Kennedy’s illness had kept him from voting for several weeks before that date at least); and from September 25, 2009 (when Paul Kirk was appointed to replace Kennedy) to February 4, 2010 (when Scott Brown took office after defeating Martha Coakley); for one day in September 2009, Republicans lacked 40 votes due to the resignation of Mel Martinez, who was replaced the next day by George LeMieux.

They used this super-majority to end debate on ObamaCare. Later, when they lost it, they "went nuclear" and killed filibuster tradition to get liberal judges appointed to District and Appellate positions.

They later came to regret this new precedent--as you know.

That's 28 working days
The Senate doesn't work every day

The Republicans filibustered and obstructed everything before and after
They even obstructed a Supreme Court Appointment
In other words, they do what they want no matter how unconstitutional it is.
Screw the people, politics over the good of the people, let the lobbyists pay them for policy

Speculation about what would, or would not, have occurred if Hillary were president . . .

Anyone here watch the latest season of Homeland? Elizabeth Keene, a former senator, is the new president, and she looks and sounds like HRC, wears pants suits, and can be quite gruff. Also, she is almost assassinated, and is forced to step down from the office of president briefly, until a Russian GRU plot to disrupt American politics is revealed to the public.

But, as the season unfolds, she becomes more and more dictatorial and vindictive, starting with jailing most of the CIA leadership. She releases them, but then fires her cabinet en masse. In the end she resigns for the good of the country.

Quite a change from Obama's uncertainties and geopolitical wanderings.

I think it’s hysterical the tea party is still talking Obama and Hilary.

They are gone and will never resurface. You might as well go on about Teddy Roosevelt busting trusts.

Hillary didn’t sleep with and pay off a porn star.

It is amazing the dissonance, really ,these folks are even talking re election.

The lack of facing reality ,is ,well, amazing.

Do you really think more than the 30% you have are going to re elect him.

Lol.

You are very lucky Hillary ran. It’s a good thing you did not lock her up before the election. I mean she lied!

That's who we need, right now.

T.R. pushed back against a tide of big money taking over, and exploiting the public at large. He knew that was not in the best interest of the United States, and nobody called him a socialist.

Cutting money addicts off at the knees is in the interest of maintaining the United States as a viable, ongoing enterprise.

The cause of the WW's was the British.

The British occupied half the world in their colonization.

Germany produced high quality industrial goods but couldn't sell them because the aszhole Britishers wouldn't allow.

The Britishers would take their goods and stamp "Made in England" and sell it.

German economy tanked gave rise to Hitler types.

The WW are Karmic reactions to st000pid greedy people and cause everyone to suffer.

But you wouldn't know this because you're moron brainwashed Politards clowns splashing in the shallow end of the pools stuck in drooling into Trumps hair.

That's why yer all dumber than Trump .....

Hitler started WW because it was cold in Germany, and he wanted a nice, warm vacation house in:

BENGHAZI

The WVB economic analysis is mostly correct. WW was partially due to economic tariffs and trade wars.

Trump is now calling for tariffs, and wants to "win" a trade war with China ("So easy, so easy")
