We pay plenty enough for 100% safe transmission, but we're not getting it.

California pays the highest rates for electricity of any state. By far. There's not even a close second.

What are we getting for that? Safest transmission in the country? Hell no! The exact opposite. 42 people just died because of sloppy electricity transmission.

What we do get for our extra added expense is the same electricity everybody else gets - just produced by more expensive methods. And the highest paid utility employees.

PG&E can suck a big terrdd out of my ashhoal. I used to work for those crooked fuukksticks clearing trees from powerlines. Their top brass would show up at the jobsite drinking 64oz chugjugs full of whiskey and coke. They should pay my property taxes for the right of way they have on my property. Where I live now, we have Nevada Energy. My power bill is one third what it was in California. We are at 8c -12c a Kwatt hour. In Cali most of my power from PGE was 44c a KWH. I guarantee that they will not pay any consequences for the fires as long as Jerry Brown and his appointees control the California PUC, run by PGE and SoCal Edison execs. They will be on vacation in Maui while taxpayers, ratepayers and insurance customers are forced to pay for all the damages.

I wasn't going to mention the PUC<ERS but the real hardball is played in Sacto with the politicos.

My father's job as a manager of a business office for Pacific Telephone gave him some insight and he never had a good word to say about these carpetbagging commissioners.

So good luck and godspeed in dealing with changes, buckos.

I guess a thought about PG&E as to these recent fires: There were high winds in the forecast. Would it not be a good idea to shut down power preemptively? Everyone would complain I am sure, but on the other hand

This is a brilliant idea. Costs nothing, loses no lives. Minimal inconvenience.

I've never heard of it being done, but it should. People in the know could set parameters: certain fire conditions, certain wind speeds and directions.
Automatic cut-offs. Would same lives and buildings.

ICE lodged a detainer against Jesus Gonzalez with Sonoma County jail officials on October 16, following his arrest on felony charges for maliciously setting fire to a property. This is especially troubling in light of the massive wildfires already devastating the region. Over the past year, ICE has lodged detainers against Mr. Gonzalez after four separate arrests by Sonoma County on various felony and misdemeanor charges. ICE was never notified of Mr. Gonzalez' various releases. Additionally, Mr. Gonzales has been returned to his home country of Mexico on two separate occasions.

The media is pretty silent on this arrest. they were quick to blame pg+ e though....

Here's some more random sh#t. This time about two crackers who set fire to churches. They should have been deported to hell.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
Two men who set fire to several churches want out of prison early. Attorneys for Matthew Cloyd and Benjamin Mosely were in court Thursday morning to ask a judge to release them before their sentences are up.

Mosely and Cloyd were convicted of setting fire to nine Alabama churches in 2006. Five of those fires were in Bibb County. Later, they set fire to four more churches in west Alabama to throw investigators off the trail.

Both men eventually plead guilty to state and federal charges. When their federal sentences ended last year, they started serving time in state prison.

Mosely said "hi" to Bibb County Sheirff Keith Hannah and nothing else as deputies led him into the courthouse on Thursday. Once inside, he read a letter to Circuit Judge Marvin Wiggins and others inside the court.

Mosley apologized to the churches he burned and the families he hurt.

But Bibb County District attorney Michael Jackson didn't buy it.

"His whole thing is a con. If you really want to take responsibility then you will serve the full amount of your time," Jackson said.

Jackson opposes any early release. An earlier hearing on the same matter was cancelled in August when the sides could not agree on a deal.

"These aren't nice young men. They burnt churches. That's one of the worst things you can do and I'm going to keep fighting to make sure they stay in prison," Jackson said today.

If they are not granted an early release, they will remain in state custody until 2017. A third church arsonist, Russell Debusk, who participated in the first five church arsons, was released early from prison last year.

Judge Wiggins took the request under advisement and could issue a ruling at a later time.

Sorry, Wilmot, the responsible media is quiet cuz there was nothing to it. Of course your alt right sources (Breitbart and InfoWars leading the pack) will go crazy cuz they think he's an illegal.

A homeless guy starts a small fire in a park he's known to sleep in, to keep warm, and someone stomps it out mostly before fire crew arrive.

Staying warm by walking away from a fire he started? When it was 78 degrees outside? Seriously?

It's arson- and he is the only one to be caught purposefully trying to start a wildfire... despite dozens killed by... wildfire

They blamed PG&E cause it was powerlines that started it. Same for Nevada County and Butte County. Duh.

The sheriff doesn't seem to think so, Wilmot.

Don't ya think he'd love to find the person responsible if indeed these fires were arson caused?

He says 'There’s no indication he’s related to these fires at all'

I'll go with the sheriff who has more info than your right wing agenda driven sites.

Gonzalez walked away from the fire as the officers approached, Harris said.

Most people would interpret that as, he walked away because the officers approached.

Some homeless people who knew Gonzalez said that he had a habit of setting fire to brush along the creek bed.

The Sheriff is the one who ignored two previous ICE detainer requests. The man would have been in Mexico rather than starting wildfires in ca had the sheriff followed the orders of federal officers.

Of course he is going to downplay the arrest- he is the one who is complicit in allowing thAt man to go free. had this man been deported- those deadly fires might not have ever been

So far this is the ONLY person caught deliberately starting wildfires in the area during these deadly fires

And yet the MSM is burying the story..

If ICE got the detainers legally, then the Sheriff would be happy to oblige.

ICE sent a detainer requesting the Sheriff’s Office hold Gonzalez for 48 hours past his scheduled release time. However, this detainer is not signed by a judge so the Sheriff’s Office cannot legally honor it. Multiple Federal court cases have determined these administrative detainers are unconstitutional. Notably, the Miranda-Olivares v. Clackamas County case found administrative detainers are an unreasonable seizure and, therefore, are a violation of the Fourth Amendment. ICE has the ability to obtain a warrant for anyone they are interested in like we do every day in this county. If ICE obtains a warrant I can legally hold the person and would be happy to do so

Why won't ICE follow the law, Wilmot?
