Yes Reilly, we're pretty fortunate to have such an extensive back country hut system. There's always an outside chance you could end up sharing a hut with someone else!

The Abbot Pass Hut at 9500 ft near Alberta.

They've updated the out house....it used to be perched in such a way that underneath you was a l-o-n-g way down.

These Italian rifugi in the Dolomiti are more substantial than most of the spartan mountain shelters indicated in this thread.
But more than a few of them require hiking or even scrambling to access.

Approaching Rifugio Locatelli:

Nice touch, meals served with napkins that have relevant maps printed on them!

The Arestua hut on Guinn Mountain, just west of Eldora ski area above Boulder Colorado:

Being more of a rope and rack and the shirt on my back kind of guy, my style of backcountry skiing is predicated solely on travel and fitness. I don't go out looking for turns, just mileage. Skinny skis, no overburdening pack. I never do overnight hut trips with oodles of gear on my back. I prefer to go light, only going out for long day trips, and I usually just motor right past huts like this, ski through style, and out the other side ...
