September of '83--Big bad wolf winds in the Tetons and they blew the hut off the saddle. We didn't go up to see but there were wonderful stories of people crawling from boulder to boulder working there way out of Garnet Canyon

Passed by a few huts (including the Baldy hut alot), I've only slept in two that I can remember: the Muir hut on Rainier (late season though so it was virtually empty) and the Neltner hut at the foot of Mt. Toubkal in the High Atlas. That was pretty empty as well.

I always stayed in many inns/shelters while doing the Annapurna Circuit back in the early 90s. Those seem to fall into a different category though.

Avery, you guys win for mostest and bestest wee huts, hands down! Woot! Now, if only you could do something about those horrid windscreen seal pecking birds! ;-)

Reilly, you must be talking about the mischievous Kea. A beautiful bird that can also be a first class pain in the butt!

Here's one that's more of a "don't die in the storm" than an intended lodging:

Above Lago di Como a little south of the Italy/Switzerland border.

Not necessarily a fave but it is a hut in a nice setting.

Cerro Catedral, near Bariloche, Argentina, northern Patagonia.

Avery! You are killing me with those shots. I love huts! NZ ones in particular. Tents are great until it rains too much. Then you need a hut...

No thread about alpine huts is complete without a picture of the Red Tit hut in the Tantalus Range in southwestern BC. It's long since gone, but most of us old Coasties spent a night or two in it.
