Mooch ..... looks like "33"... so room for "walk ups"?

Its OK if we lock the Paparazzi outside, but the true fans deserve to see this.

Guy.......you missed the "+1" next to some of the names. Take another stab, old man! ;)

And, no walk ups.....slackers had plenty of time to RSVP. Additionally, ONLY RSVP folks can purchase raffle tickets. Kris's show is gonna start promptly at 5:30PM. No late arrivals.......you snooze, you lose.

I'll be climbing both Saturday and Sunday. I've only ever been to Kern Slabs and New Directions. I was thinking of hitting Dome Rock early Saturday. Who else is coming to climb, and where?

^^^^No doubt! That's The Muffin Man! B-Nic!

Looks like the forecast for the Kern Valley area is going to be a bit warm Saturday (mid 80's)......too warm for Kern Slab and New Direction. I know a few people who are attending that are headed to Dome Rock and The Needles to climb. The climbers lower approach to Voodoo is now cut back and marked well with cairns. So, WPOD is a good objective. Best start early to avoid a warm approach.

Paul W ..... Dome Rock will be quite warm...

Mooch.... any first hand report about Vahalla? I know if the falls are going full bore, all the climbs are wet from the spray.

Can you rip on over to it and check?

Take mosquito repellent to Dome Rock. They might not be around, but there's some springs/wetland down the hill under the rock. I've been eaten alive there at this time of year. Don't let this comment keep you away, Dome Rock is perfect right now.

Better I ask Marco since my week is super busy at work and at home. I would still believe that Valhalla would be pretty warm too. The creek is moving at a good clip though. No sure if Valhalla is approachable.

Me and the wife were going to go to Dome Rock before the show. Looking forward to jumping on anti-Jello crack

Mooch.... Valhalla is air-conditioned... all the climbs on the hikers right side... are in the shade. My personal experience ... if the sun is shining in Kernville...the rocks are hot.

only problem with Dome rock.... how are you going to leave in time to get to Kernville by 5:00? Dome gets really nice about 3pm this time of year.

We will see...

Is is possible to drive straight south from Dome Rock to Kernville, or is that road still closed? i.e. do I have to drive around?

The heat does not bother me so much, I live in Fresno, Tollhouse is a death-reflector-oven, but I have still climbed it in the heat ;)

Nanobody....pay no mind to anti-fun old dood. Suffering is not on his agenda. ;) Nah, you can make it from Dome Rock to Kernville fine. I'd allot yourself at least 2 hours of flex to drive back in time for the check in...5PM.

If you hop on Anti Jello first thing it won't be too bad though, like Guy said, it's nice when it goes into shade in the afternoon. Stellar route. The Great Western Hwy. (from Ponderosa south to Johnsonville) is open.

That is a nice spot. I'll be up there with the kids over Memorial Day weekend (so no climbing) and will have to make a stop there.

Kris's slide show was a SUCCESS! A full house! Thanks Kris, for sharing your pics, memories and kick ass stories. Who hauls out a trumpet deep into the backcountry and plays Brahms?? Kris Solem, that's who! Good to see a few of the new generation "old Dads".... Guy Keesee, Dwight Kroll, Bruce "Slick" Watts, Scott Loomis, Craig Harris, just to name a few! Guyzo stole the show with him donning a women's small t-shirt that he won at the raffle!! Btw, the raffle produced nearly $500, which has been sent off to Access Fund in support of keeping Bears Ears a beautiful resource for the generations after us. Here's a few shots at the brewery....

Introducing Kris

Kris starting with the mouth watering pics

"Plane rides that buzz close to the Needles give me a woody!"

A captivated crowd

Damn glad to be here!

Minutes before the raffle

The crowd eagerly awaits their chance to win a few ropes, cams and other juicy items up for raffle

"Up for raffle.......one women's small t-shirt. Drum roll please!

And the winner is........GUYZO!!
