What frustrates me is people of the lower income class not paying their taxes...(Or for that matter, ANYONE that doesn't pay their taxes)...

People of low incomes who receive W-2's DO pay their taxes, just to be clear on the issue. I am sure that is not to whom you are referring, of course. They have a set amount deducted from each and every paycheck, and that money pooled with so many others in the same situation, gains interest along the way until the initial amount is refunded. A loan, in a way, with no interest paid to the one who lends it....

Edited to add:
How about paying no taxes at all, then getting back EIC, ACA subsidies, rent assistance, foodstamps, 99 weeks of UI, then retire early on SSI disability.

Enough of this shet. Too many bought and paid for zombies. Everybody should have skin in the game.

Too bad Trump doesn't have skin in the game. He hasn't paid taxes, SS, Medicare, whatever for years and years.

Until the multi trillion dollar murder empire is reeled back in, I applaud anyone who doesn't pay their federal taxes. Good for them.

Unfortunately I don't have to the means or the balls to resist.

I took that mainstream media survey just out of curiosity. And as others have mentioned, I suspect it is a fake survey just to drive people to give money to Trump. He has no class whatsoever. Classless and clueless is Number 45.

A fake president.

If trumpco doesn't frighten the sh#t out of you from both a national security perspective and his wholesale handing of the nation over to corporations then you're either delusional, an idiot, or just not paying attention.

GF, regarding your post about the costs of Trump and company "travel' expenses (as such), I was going to bring up the point of Eric Trump's business trip to Uruguay costing the taxpayer nearly $90k.

I can understand a president's immediate family (children and I suppose grandchildren) requiring Secret Service protection, say on everyday living matters or even holidays, but the taxpayer partially footing the bill (in a way, yes) for a business trip? A trip that was to benefit the Trump Organization.

I know some may scoff at me for thinking that is a bit outrageous, but it just does not seem right that Trump can benefit from such.

And could those people who want to bring up Clinton and Obama understand that in a sense, both are "history". What matters is the here and now and right now Trump is the president (I guess, I could be wrong) and the immediate concern is what he is (or is not) doing.

It seems that Trump does not want the buck to stop at him (unless it is a dollar buck, and of course it stops at him, I mean soliciting donations for a 2020 campaign as well as padding his bank account even more. How graceless. Mainstream Media Survey my ass, a joke and con is what it is, but then, joke and con go hand in hand with Donald Trump.

^^^ delusional.

P.S. Trump's Virginia vineyard just applied for more 23 more foreign laborer visas at $11.27 an hour (Romanian and South African)- so much much for putting America First. That pretty much says it all about just how f*#king clueless the working class rubes who voted for trump are. He makes the post-Civil War carpetbaggers all look like Mother Teresas by comparison.

Trump is campaigning already because he knows he is in deep sh*t. As you saw from his ADD press conference, his only hope of extending his train wreck presidency is rallying his base. Eventually most of them will get tired of the relentless whining and press bashing.

Uncle Puty has special place for him when the time comes. So at least he has that going for him, which is nice.

gf,

As you say, the changing times have left many of them behind.

That being said we need to figure out how to empathize and reach out to them. Right now all they have is Trump. They need an alternative.

I have been guilty of belittling them. I need to do better. I think it is time to build some bridges.

Right now all they have is Trump.

No, right now all they have is the illusion of trump who played to their fears, stirred up racism among a fair number of them, and pandered to them with endless lies. Trumpco, right now - every day - is so furiously busy f*#king them that by the time he's done their lives are going to be way worse off than compared to today and without the few precious few protections they currently enjoy. It's the biggest con job in the history of the nation.

Just to simplify this, CNN was in the hallway in the Capitol, and asked various Republicans who had seen the rambling, stream of consciousness press conference. They asked them what they thought.

They either wouldn't comment, or they thought it was not good.

We see a lot of pushback by Republicans. Not overwhelming, but telling, because Republicans have voted as a single block for years now. Anyone jumping off of the bandwagon is interesting.

I walked out of my office and watched the whole press conference. Trump rambles, continues to tell lies, like how his electoral college victory was the biggest since Reagan. It was not. Not even close. When reminded of this by a reporter, he finally said, "That is what I was told."

He is out of his depth. He has no experience in governing. He doesn't act professional when in public. Jeez, his press conference with the Israeli PM was also weird. In the middle of it he again stopped to brag about his HUGE electoral college win.

The truth is, he won by 75,000 total votes in 3 key states. He barely won.

It doesn't matter, though. Nobody is questioning his legitimacy as President. That went away in about two days. Nobody says that he isn't the President. Still, he has to keep lying about it. I was glad that a reporter finally read him all of the other electoral college counts since Reagan. That is just a lie.

It comes down to this: We have never seen a president act more un-presidential than Trump. Geez, Pence gave a great speech today in Europe, with a coherent foreign policy message: All is well.

Pence would make a much better president than Trump. The media is all over him because he gives them so much ammo. Obama, both Bushes, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, you name it. They all behaved professionally, with every word carefully measured.

Trump just wings it. Then he goes to Florida every weekend. The right bitched when Obama went on vacation. It is expensive to fly Air Force One and prepare for any presidential trip. They cost millions. Trump does it every weekend. His wife stays in New York most of the time, his kids travel around the world. The secret service is being strained.

Remember the outrage over the expense of Obama's vacation in Cape Cod? Trump does this every weekend.

The only thing I can say is that this whole experience has been like a dream. It is unreal.

Hopefully he will grow into the job, but right now, he should keep his mouth shut, especially calling the news "fake news."

The guy lives in a bubble inside his own mind. This has been completely bizarre.

Inner city Black guys can't get work; the response is that it's their own fault and that McD's is always hiring.

White suburban and rural guys can't get work and the country has let them down.....

Huh.... wonder why that is.

Speaking of ISIS, how's that extra special better than anyone's war on them going?

They were down to Mosul and Raqqa already anyway. Shouldn't Trump Almighty have 'em scooped up by now?
