He's doing great, if you're deep in the military industrial complex, and don't mind destroying the Earth through war, pollution and famine. But America and their KGB overlords should be in charge of the smoking disease filled ruins. So that's good.

And oftentimes, to win us to our harm,
The instruments of darkness tell us truths,
Win us with honest trifles, to betray ’s
In deepest consequence.

Once upon a time there was a nuclear blast and the only survivor was a lowly bank clerk with Coke bottle glasses,
who seemed quite happy to have survived the blast because he had got his beloved books in the bank vault with him
--until he had to go looking for food outside and accidentally stepped on his glasses...

Trump is as bad as Obama from point of view of dealing with opposition in parliament.
So far both used "My way or highway" approach.
Without building bridges we would get even nastier elections in four years.

How can we assure that a more collaborative president than Obama/Trump is elected next time?
This is the only important issue. All other issues are unimportant from point of view of preservation of American democracy.

For folks with this viewpoint, I am curious about your views on our educational system and Betsy De Vos?

From my perspective, our increasingly polarized society is a function of several things:
1. Cable TV and and radio with customized channels/content that play to specific market segments
2. Internet sourced news where people can customize their content preferences and friends with whom they exchange feedback or vent

People getting to seek out news that confirms their basic viewpoints or biases intensifies the polarization, and creates more intransigent factions in all branches of government. The problem is that each side has to cater to their base which will see it as a betrayal if the politician compromises with the other side.

This polarization will become more extreme if we let centralized education standards erode and we have vouchers for customized private schools, so the extremes of each party can school their kids in less fact-based education to more deeply indoctrinate them in viewpoints that lead to even less ability to compromise for creating a rule of law.

Imagine 4-year olds reciting quotes from Breitbart? How far until we have the brown shirt uniforms and an updated patriotic salute?

Seriously? The right went into full-blown obstructionist mode the day Obama was elected. His biggest failing was wasting his first to years trying to reason with gop members in congress. At no point was the gop receptive to 'bridges'. Obama resorted to EO when the gop members in congress made it imminently clear they would not be entertaining anything he had to say. And he was quite reasonable compared to a lying sociopathic fascist like trump.

This editorial makes a good point. If Democrats ever want a share of the federal government they should alter their tactics.

Navy says over half of its air fleet can't fly
US Navy officials have alerted Congress that budget cuts and other factors have led more than half of its air fleet to be grounded.

Not good.

What is good about our intelligence community not feeling safe to share intelligence with the White House? About NSA witholding the best details of their intelligence because they don't trust that the Whitehouse won't leak it and Trump probably won't read it anyways?

http://observer.com/2017/02/donald-trump-administration-mike-flynn-russian-embassy/

What’s going on was explained lucidly by a senior Pentagon intelligence official, who stated that “since January 20, we’ve assumed that the Kremlin has ears inside the SITROOM,” meaning the White House Situation Room, the 5,500 square-foot conference room in the West Wing where the president and his top staffers get intelligence briefings. “There’s not much the Russians don’t know at this point,” the official added in wry frustration.

None of this has happened in Washington before.

Maybe it is fake news. Ok... let's see who owns this media outlet... doh!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observer_Media

Owned by Jared Kushner, son in law to Trump??? So the inside circle of Trump owns the publication of this message? Either the media reporting is independent or it is some type of reverse-psychology thing? Maybe they want to show that the intelligence community is not honoring their duty to share stuff with the White House, but instead it is backfiring to show the incompetence and conflicts of interest and consequences of the White House actions? Or maybe it's a half-baked counter-intelligence strategy, where they hope to make the Russians let their guard down while they make super-secret plans that are going to be huge, that we are going to love.

What do conservative folks make of this?

Edit: Maybe it's laying the groundwork for Trump to fire Flynn and blame him for all the Russian-related controversies to get a clean slate on that front?

Donald Trump to John Travolta: Sorry Your Son Died; Can I Bang Your Wife?

Yes, Donald Trump, who would've been 62 years old at the time, thought it was appropriate to offer his condolences to a grieving mother by first telling the story of his unsuccessful attempts to have sex with her.

Oh wait, that was before he got elected. He's obviously matured.

The way I see it, the B's overtook the R's with a last minute surge.

What was the over-under? I'm guessing 5, but I don't bet on public forums (they're all rigged doncha know?).
