MAKE THIS SH!T STOP !!!!!!!!!!!

There's no more room to put this sh!t ..... lol

That's only half funny. We've got piles of snow, in the places I snow-blow to, that are eight feet high with the gorgeous white crap. We are running out of room....

hey there saym mtyoung... wow...

thanks for sharing...

i have to go back to read the other post, too...

but-- here, we are a COLDER but drier, winter...
than usual... so they say... (i am not born here, so still learning, here)

we were on the 'border' of that prediction, and it has held true...
so not dealing with all that SNOW...

(say, jan-- you many have been in a 'border' line, too, as to how
the winter was affecting folks? not sure... i did read that some
areas were going to 'very different' winters... due to the
lowering of the 'cold wave' etc, that moves through, in winter)
wrong way to explain, it-- but you all know what i mean... i think...

FEW YEARS, BACK, THOUGH ... wow, we did, but it stopped in time,
before it got 'no way to deal with it'....

but-- i have been trying to keep up, on the all the calif and nevada snow and rain news...
thanks again... :)

Stoopud America.
Tuolumne style.
Phoenix Lake Rd application.

Dear people going up (yes up) Phoenix Lake Rd--
When the CHP tells you to turn around and go back down the road that does not mean wait 15 minutes then try to go up backwards.
My husband and I were shoveling some snow off our driveway and this guy came
back around driving backwards up Phoenix Lake Rd.
Beware as well people are trying to put chains on in our driveway! and in k honesty if you are putting chains on in our driveway and letting
your children run around on our property it’s a little too late.
Put the chains on before Phoenix Lake Rd or don’t come up up all.

Traffic in S Lake Tahoe has been a complete sh*t show from all the people coming up Hwy 50, or at least trying to come up in the storm. CHP has some rather amazing posts on their FB site:

CHP – Placerville

*Current conditions as of 11:30 PM 2/15/19*

STOP DRIVING UP HERE FROM OUT OF AREA.

We cannot handle the amount of vehicles that keep coming up and getting stuck here. There are no alternate routes.
Expect 6-8 hour delays.

US-50 is being closed intermittently for avalanche control.

Exits in Pollock Pines are being shut down for everyone except residents.

Just please stop coming up here. The situation is too much for the area to handle and there is nowhere for you to go.

I-80 is open. Go that way!

We have every available officer up there and have even held over the previous shift.

Hoping our media partners can help spread the word.

CHP – Placerville

*MORNING UPDATE 2/16/19 at 0955*

US-50 is already backing up. Motorists just don’t want to heed our warnings.
Chain control from Point View to Meyers.
Expect an 8-10 hour trip to South Lake Tahoe, if you are lucky. Snow will continue to fall and CalTrans will continue to hold traffic intermittently for avalanche control. THEY HAVE TO DO THIS TO KEEP YOU ALIVE!

We have been keeping our officers pretty much on double shifts keeping everyone available out there. We have been doing this since yesterday, even if you may not have seen us. We are seeing a situation where our roads cannot handle this amount of traffic in these conditions. Rather than direct traffic in many cases we are having to go rescue people who have put themselves in bad situations by being unprepared. Thank you to CalTrans, EDSO, Fire and all other agencies out there helping to mitigate the issues.

Want to know why it is backing up? Too many people are showing up to chain control completely unprepared. YOU CAN’T BUY CHAINS FROM CALTRANS. Your chains also do no good on the non-drive axle. Locations to buy chains are sparse once you get on the hill.

You have a large snowstorm over several days, add in chain control, intermittent closures for avalanche control, thousands of unprepared motorists, a 3 day weekend, and you get traffic backed up.

THERE ARE NO ALTERNATE ROUTES ON BACK ROADS IF YOU ARE ON 50. STOP TRYING TO FOLLOW GPS OFF OF 50.

I-80 is open and is designed to handle more vehicles.

To repeat what we have said all week, if you don’t absolutely have to go, then don’t. STAY HOME PLEASE

We will try to keep you updated best we can.

I liked (but couldn't really "like" it) that Maureen McGuire posted there on that link about owners of vacation homes not being locals but vacationers,so they should stay the hell home.

You tell 'em, Lady Pink!

Excellent imagery, as always, DMT.

Some elaboration might help to orient some non-Calis.

Now it’s getting serious - the Pebble Beach Lone Cypress has lost one of its major limbs!

How much more of this can Cali take?

Nice photos, Dingus. I could post some photos from this weekend too, but they'd all be just a bunch of white. We sure as HELL aren't driving anywhere from here.

I'm not sure if you saw that Highway 108 was closed yesterday from Twain Harte up to the normal winter-time closure point?

We got another eight inches overnight.

Oh well, we've got plenty of food, we're good on firewood, plenty of snow-blower fuel, and oh, by the way, this black liquid in my mug is nice and hot.

I know you know what you're doing Dingus, but be careful with all this high water.

Our local new web-site posted a brief story about a guy who was driving near Chinese Camp and ignored a "Road Closed" sign.

I don't know how to capture their photos, but here's a link to a short news story. The three photos say it all though:

Back in the 60s I hiked up the Sutter Buttes on a crystalline winter day. Could see from Mt Diablo to Mt Shasta. The Sacramento Valley flood control system was easily visible.

Renault: What in heaven’s name brought you to California?
Rick: My health, I came to California for the waters.
Renault: The waters? What waters? We’re in the desert.
Rick: I was misinformed.

Mungeclimber is calling it "Februburied."

We're certainly getting there:

And we're running out of places to pile it:

Of course they think snow-blowing is all a game:

Sunshine is supposed to be coming tomorrow. Maybe I'll shovel some more snow, but this time with shorts on?
