I know that I've said this before...but BELIEVE in the kindness of strangers. <3 I tore this package open on the way to the climbing gym this morning, thinking it was some piece of gear I'd ordered & completely forgotten about..and burst into tears. A beautiful, perfect Dolt nut...sent to me anonymously. The muppet piped up from the backseat: "Oh, Mama...those are happy tears, aren't they? Because someone was so nice to send you something your daddy made." Precisely. I'm overwhelmed and thankful...and continue to be awed by the thoughtfulness and generosity of the climbing tribe.

Thank you more than words can express.

Hi Steve! Yes -- shipping address also listed as NOCO. Access Fund flyer + AF sticker + NOCO sticker. These are the only clues I have. I love a good puzzle, but I'm stumped. :) Would love to thank the mysterious giver personally! Best to you and Mimi! A

I once gave a climber co worker friend 3 Dolt hexes of three ascending sizes brand new condition for his birthday present. I had no idea that they might be worth $600. No regrets though.

I hope he comes to appreciate them for the historical value.

Giving is giving anyway. It makes you feel good.

Re the ebay post. I might have some of those. Have to check around.

Ah...but it was..

Had it not been for Don Lauria posting the thead "Dolt Stories" and DEE EE posting that his parents knew Dolt through the Bruin Mountaineers, I never would have figured out who my birth dad was.

And had it not been for the above, I wouldn't have kept poking around on this site, and eventually have found BooDawg's post on the Halloween 1969 great UCLA Mountaineer hoax, which led to me writing to him to see whether my birth mom had been there that day.

Had it not been for Boo Dawg writing up the story, I never would have found him...the only person other than my birth mom's baby sister who really knew them both.

And, more than likely, I never would have written anything about my birth parents' stories, had I not encountered BooDawg, a true force of nature, and love.

I am blown out of the water routinely by the awesomeness of the climbing community...today included.

P.S. But for Taco awesomeness, I never would have found, nor (gasp!) fallen in love with climbing...without which having done, my birth aunt never would have done such a crazyily loving thing as to buy a Dolt nut for me. :) And I certainly never would have developed an...er...fondness for climbing gear. (I now have a gear closet. Truth.)

P.P.S. Heading out to J-Tree mid-Jan to work on my multi-pitch and lead climbing skills. :D Betcha never wouldda thought!!!

Turns out I have both leather and plastic holsters made by Bill. I used to practice impulsively forcing the hammer up in the air out of the holster and thence to fall right back in. With the plastic I could get the hammer to go higher and more reliably. Something to do when not on a climb.
