"Many Americans have tired of both the Bush and Clinton dynasties."
Many Americans cut their nose off to spite their face. :-)
Hope all is well John.

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

Its the same mechanism that made justin beiber a 'rock star'. Literally. The habit for low brow entertainment that eschews rigorous thinking will always settle at the lowest point. Clinton wouldnt have been any panacea so long as the process that allows this to happen remains.
I said all along trump was running a cargo cult, selling snake oil and privilege to disgruntled natives upset with their place in the order. Clintons head on a stick was powerful stuff to people overwhelmed by a techno-fear of email servers, climate change and health care.
Worth rereading Lord Jim and Lord of the Flies.

Yeah. Both show ways in which a system allows certain people to rise to the top, regardless of the intentions of the system.
Obviously both are ficticious satire, but they represent the fears of our societies at similar times of dishevel.
You get what a system has the least ability to avoid, wheather a ball falling thru pins or millions voting for a new face on an old politic.
Is the process of fixing it greater than just living with the outcome? America needs to think about this. You set the standard for democracy, but as your politicians got comfortable others have surpassed it. In the last 50 years alone the democratic process has been better employed in places with more difficult circumstances. The days of the US being beacon of the process are waning if not gone.

Why it happened by the numbers is because the American left thought Hillary was obviously going to win, so they didn't get out and vote.
yep, lowest overall voter turnout in 20 years and 19% of millennials voted. smh
Issues that affect millennials like gay marriage and acceptance of weed legalization came easy in the last 8 years, now it will be a tooth and nail fight for both.
Will be really interesting to see what Sessions does with the left coast fully legal now.

Here in Ca, we appear to have had a record high turnout, which is funny when you consider that we were never in play nationally.
