David - I see two as well, but where are they on the route? Is that lower party on the Enduro Corner? Must have been a cold outing. No one on Dinner Ledge, either.

I see a party of 2 on the 6 th pitch of the South Face, Washington Column, and another climber above that (solo?).

90,000 pixels printed at 300dpi (standard for high-end printing) would yield a 25ft. wide image, so there's plenty of resolution in those pictures to cover a big wall.
Now: a 44" x 100ft. roll of paper for an Epson 9800 is going to set you back around $175, not to mention $5,000 for the printer. Figure 4 rolls of paper, and another $300 for ink (wild guess, it's probably quite a bit more-- it's hard to find figures on ink/ft.^2) and you're looking at around $900 plus the cost of the printer, plus the cost of mounting the image onto a backing or *gasp* a frame.
At that price (even bump it up to $2.5k for all expenses) I could actually see some place like REI buying a copy of it to put on a wall of a flagship store.

Fantastic and breathtaking work!
Chicken Skinner/Ken - if you are out there, huge printed images like these are an ABSOLUTE MUST for the Yosemite Climbing Museum walls. I dreamed of this possiblility years ago, as I'm sure others have as well, and now it's possible!
I'm pretty sure there are two climbers nearing the top of North Dome - possibly on Crest Jewel.

ehanson - check out a topo for setting up shots.. e.g. I think that Basket Dome is a bit closer to Half Dome, and more mid-height with respect to the North-West face and more perpendicular...
...there are lots of interesting visa points that are great to shoot from (like the base of Sentinel Rock) which are scrambles...

Here is a picture of a traditional northwest native (First People's) canoe, under construction. I don't know a lot about the nuances, but I believe it is an ocean going canoe. Not sure which nation it relates to - possibly Haida Gwaii.
Note the resemblance to Steve's canoe on El Cap. Not your standard issue canoe.
There is a similar canoe, carved from jade, in the foyer at Vancouver airport. Two or three metres long, filled with things and creatures relating to First People's creation myths. Well worth a look if you're passing through.

YA, this is the best where's Waldo I ever played.
Saw the two on N. dome some days ago. There are three parties on the column three different routes, between two zooms, can you find 'em (not tellin which routes)?
How about the apparent soloist on the Muir, blue bags?
Hard to tell, but could be a party on the Salathe'.
There was another one I can't remember.

I (imaginatively) called the feature "the boat", but when we came down after the FA, I saw Sutton, who asked, "How was the canoe, eh?"

That is really amazing. I'd love to see them even closer, but i was just able to retrace pitch by pitch my ascent of the Salathe and it brought back some memories that I haven't had in years. Thank you!!

Peter, we have done just as you conjectured- printed the diving board image at 6' x 18' on a Epson 9800. The material costs were not as much as the custom frame, made from hardwood, stainless, cable, and alum. This is a crappy pic taken from the Natl Assoc of Interpreters show we just did in Albuquerque:

It was printed as (5) 42" panels edge to edge on black Sintra and laminated. I will be showing it at the APPL show in Sacramento in March. We may sell smaller continuous 3.5'x11' prints if anyone is interested, or of the other images (El Cap, etc). Experiencing the print is amazing. Viewers typically spend 15-20 mins just going from end to end. The pic above is 2 yose rangers who spent 1/2 hour there showing me a lot of the park I had no knowledge of. Nate, great idea on Yosemite Climbing Museum, I'll email Ken Yager right away. I would be happy to get an image up there once it exists..

deuce: The picture is of a native (Indian) canoe, from B.C. (Under construction.) With variations, it's pretty much the standard northwest native ocean canoe. Every museum has one, including the big museum of anthropology in Vancouver, etc. Maybe Steve was struck by the resemblance - he's from B.C. The profiles are uncannily similar, and when I saw the zoom in of the feature on El Cap, I immediately thought of a possible origin for the name.

must be an amazing place to those of you lucky enough to play there regularly...(i'll be there in few months with a new shoulder to break in, if anyone's around...)

In the same realm as Birdbeak Spire and the Fang, I had looked at this line in Zion to complete the trilogy:
Now it can be seen without a telescope thanks to this Xrez's fine interactive photo.
If anyone does this line, please let me know. With a young 'un on the way, I doubt I'll get to it anytime soon!
