I've just given 90 minutes to these pics. Stunning.
Make sure to check the link in this sentence, about midway through the paragraph:
"This resulted in a 3.8 gigapixel, 90,000 pixel-wide image, one of our largest to date."
If you full-zoom into Washington Column, you can see two separate parties on what looks like Astroman - maybe one in the Enduro corner? Can I get a confirmation on that from someone who'd know?

Incredible! Party on the Muir (top of 18th) but empty on the Nose.
Imagine how much fun counting climbers if the shot was taken in June or September rather than early spring.

Hey, I am one of the co-founders of that site, glad you guys are digging it. Yes, we are planing on re-shooting El Cap next summer w/ a lot more traffic on the wall and in even greater resolution than that one.. I also want to shoot it from different vantages and do overlays on top of the image, which Google Maps allows. Half Dome is also planned as another shoot from North Dome, which should get us a better frontal view. I could really use some help from the community as to laying this out, though, if any of you are interested, shoot me a mail from the site. There's a lot of potential w/ this technique, but I figured you guys would eat it up first! Thanks for spotting the Zodiac guys, missed that one myself! Working on the Throne today, should go live next week..

ehanson-- I'm curious as to what program you're using to stitch everything together. I do a bit of panoramic photography myself, and while I usually just use a few layers in Photoshop (which would be ludicrous in your case) I sometimes use other pano programs that are out there. Is yours a custom bit of software, or off the shelf?
Also: the 3D Maya rendering is spectacular. I just wish it were a bit longer! A "flight" through more of the valley would be great. Are you planning one of these for Zion too?

JZ, try a different browser, I know some have had trouble, depending on os. If it runs Google Maps it should run ours.. Peter, we use PTGui, which is a deal for a hundred bucks, and does a much better job than Stitcher. It is more technical and not that easy to figure out, but is worth it for best quality and scalability. As for the 3d sequences, those all all just tests (the Half Dome one is sloppy), but I do plan on showing glaciation from Glacier Point next..

I can hear the brains boiling from the "more beta is bad for the sport" crowd.
I checked some high traffic free-climb routes, e.g. Royal Arches, and I couldn't find anyone (might be one person on the rap). This sure was a quiet day for climbers. When was it taken - I think I will go climbing on that date.
