you say [chicken] pox and firewater...

chevron says a carton of unfiltered marlboros and a flat of nestle bottled water...

ya know...

basically, one of those tomaetoe, tomahtoe type siteeations...

what's amazing about that video, is you know there were multiple internal meetings [involving public relations people, an "aboriginal liaison" or two, along with a smattering of vice-executives in charge of official sounding stuff] at chevron hq prior to this "engagement"...

and yet one could not have made a better parody video of the "engagement" if one tried:

the matrix style shades, android like body language, stilted-i'm-being-fed-words-through-an-earpiece style of communication and chesty go pros, all iced off with a layer of plastic encased h2o and what i can only presume is corporately farmed tobacco... as they stand next to a fookin' stream and natural environment.

i guess when a mass of humans are sewn to each other in hierarchical human centipede fashion, the simulation of humanity that is displayed in that video, is what must inevitably result from the shIt filled vertically oriented echo chamber...

The reality of this is the stuff of delusion and fantasy. It's a big pet project of leftists to throw more money at this issue which always leads to more dependence and greater problems.

That statement holds generally, not just for this thread.

what I want to know is why when someone is dying, people rush to help, but when someone is suffering, they mostly turn away?

Such as..

Climbers raised over 100,000 dollars in less then 24 hours to help rescue someone.

and

We have had two threads to try and help people who were paralyzed while climbing and needed some help to have a better life or even possibly walk some day.

One it took almost a week to raise 10,000 dollars to buy a guy in a wheel chair a van so he could get around. And maybe occasionally get outside.

And the other was a young lady who needed help with funds to get some physical therapy so that she could possibly walk again some day.. and very little was raised.

while we are generalizing, righties seem to be quick to safe a life, i.e. pro life, yet when people need help to have a life, they say... pick your own self up.

I get what Riley is saying.. sometimes constant help leads to dependency..

But isn't there a line somewhere between dependency and needing a helping hand to get back up?

oh well, too bad you are paralyzed. suck it bitch.

Sorry for the profanity, but this pisses me off.

so what is the rights solution? because I sure would like to hear one since they have had control of the finances of this country for 20 plus years. Spending bills do come from the republican controlled house.

well... how about it?

oh.. I know.. more guns.. more military... more prisons.

how is that working for you? eh?

Edit:

we can do this "conservative always" versus " liberals always" all night. Doubt it will ever get us anywhere.

Woot !!!!

re: JE's re: vis-a-vis Radical's quote

sure. it's often true... but if we are to speak of "reality", let us not forget the other side of the coin:

"rightists" like to over react to perceived threats [please refer to the foreign policies of reagan, "dubya" bush and h. clinton], proceed to bomb children, mothers, fathers, weddings, funerals, and etc while arming to the teeth our lesser enemies who are the enemies of our current greater enemies [please get back to me in 20 yearsish regarding how the current strategy of arming the saudis works out]... and then when "the chickens come home to roost" a generation or so later, they/we just fire and/or socially silence the academics, professionals and common wo/men who dare point out the obvious.

the cyclical conscious and intentional manipulation of collective fear [generally by the "right"] and collective guilt [generally by the "left"] has been the fuel in the engine of systemic expansionistic human organization for thousands of years now [please refer especially to the roman empire, the imperial european powers, and the present day empire that is the us of a]

and so it goes...

and so it goes...

sorry Dingus, wasn't clear in what pisses me off. (Been in a lot of pain for the last few months, so mind isn't exactly clear)

the sniping was really what pissed me off. I get tired of it because it can go both ways. And rarely does either side have their own solution. They just snipe. Whats the conservatives solution to poverty? Let them starve? Oh.. I know.. lower taxes on the wealthy so that they will create jobs.. meh. The wealthy are more wealthy then they have ever been. Where are the jobs?

The other just bugs me. Boy do we want to save a life, but when someone is damaged.. eek.. we don't want to look or really help. Its lack of empathy and heartlessness. I can understand, because we can't imagine ourselves in that persons situation and don't want to. But rescuing someone, that we can see, and don't mind. Because once they are rescued, then its over and we can go back to our mindlessness. But if someone is damaged, then eek, it might require more then just a donation, and so people turn away and help dribbles in from the few that can find some amount of empathy.
