^^ This is how far the GOP has fallen. Ted Cruz is considered a respectable candidate.

I was going to vote third party, probably for Johnson, to express my desire to move on from two party system that is moving to the two extremes.

But after this latest release of the DNC emails by wikileaks I may just have to vote for...Hillary.

I like seeing this unfiltered view of what the candidates really think and say behind closed doors.

I've always known Hillary is corrupt and opportunist, but the emails confirm it's about what I expected, typical lying / special interest stuff, but I was afraid it would be much worse.

She tells Xerox CEO Ursula Burns that both political parties should be “sensible, moderate, pragmatic.” OH THE HORRORS!

The right is happy to bring up that Clinton admits that she’s “kind of far removed” from the middle-class upbringing that she frequently touts on the campaign trail. BUT she follows that up with that she recognizes it and tries to account for it. Think Trump does that?

Oh no she's for free trade! I think free trade is good as long as your trading partner is playing fairly. I think America benefits from free trade because we produce expensive goods and services so the overall economy benefits. If you are an unskilled laborer yes it can suck, but the economy is going global anyway.

Open borders aren't the nightmare everyone thinks. Ever travel in Europe? You don't even know when you go from country to country. We need immigration reform to legitimize the pool of low cost labor we benefit from and we need to enforce laws against employers using foreign workers when there are American laborers that will do the job.

Hillary and Trump are both more concerned with the 1% than you and me.

But look at their tax plans. Trump gives the majority of his tax cuts to the 1% which adds trillions to the national debt.

Hillary wants to add a new tax bracket for those making over $5 million a year and a "Buffet" rule a minimum tax rate of 30 percent for anyone making over a million dollars a year. And she'll use that partly to pay for subsidized college tuition, which makes the USA more competitive in the new global economy.

"This is not because we resent success," Clinton said at the Democratic National Convention in July. "But when more than 90 percent of the gains have gone to the top 1 percent, that's where the money is. And we are going to follow the money."

The new tax bracket is huge to me. I have been saying for years it's not the 1% that makes over $1 million a year that isn't paying their fair share, that's not a whole lot of money in places like SF or NYC; it's the 0.1%. $5 million a year IS a lot of money, and they often end up paying a LOWER percentage than you or me because they can afford lawyers / accountants / tax shelters / deferred interest, etc.

Trump wants to lower his taxes AND eliminate the estate tax. Philosophically I'm against the estate tax (why should the people get what you want to leave to your kids?) but pragmatically I think we need one that ramps in. Otherwise Trump and his ilk give billions to their kids and most of the wealth accumulates in a few families over time, until they have way too much power.

"Our voting system is distributed, ancient and counties and states are only marginally competent at pulling them off at all. The idea you could rig such messy business in advance is just plain stupid on the face of it. That's not to say you can't have people in positions of power like Katherine Harris who can bend the results after the fact.

And if it were going to be rigged anywhere it would be in red states, not blue ones."

The great odds are that this horrifying event already happened and there was no repercussions to the sons of bitches who did it. These links below will get you started on this sordid tale. This is the 2nd Bush/Karl Rove, but I believe Hillary is much much worse than they were.

From today's Washington Post.

Trump is such an incredible arrogant SOB!

TRUMP'S PROBLEM WITH WOMEN KEEPS GETTING WORSE:

Four women who competed in the 1997 Miss TEEN USA beauty pageant said Trump walked into the dressing room while contestants — some as young as 15 — were changing. From BuzzFeed: “I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s a man in here,’’ said Mariah Billado, the former Miss Vermont Teen USA. Trump, she recalled, said something like, ‘Don’t worry ladies, I’ve seen it all before.’ Three other contestants also remembered Trump entering the dressing room while girls were changing, saying the girls tried to cover their bodies, with one calling it ‘shocking’ and ‘creepy.’”

Former Miss Arizona Tasha Dixon corroborated the reports: “He just came strolling right in. There was no second to put a robe on or any sort of clothing or anything,” the 2001 winner told CBS Los Angeles. “Some girls were topless. Others girls were naked. Our first introduction to him was when we were at the dress rehearsal and half naked changing into our bikinis. To have the owner come waltzing in, when we’re naked, or half naked, in a very physically vulnerable position and then to have the pressure of the people that worked for him telling us to go fawn all over him, go walk up to him, talk to him, get his attention.” (Fred Barbash)

These women are coming forward after it emerged that Trump bragged about strolling through dressing rooms while contestants were changing during a 2005 interview with Howard Stern. “I’ll tell you the funniest is that I’ll go backstage before a show and everyone’s getting dressed,” Trump said. “… I’m allowed to go in, because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it…. ‘Is everyone okay’? You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.”

-- In next door Maine, Gov. Paul LePage (R) actually said yesterday that “authoritarian power” may be needed in the United States.

“Sometimes, I wonder that our Constitution is not only broken, but we need … [Trump] to show some authoritarian power in our country and bring back the rule of law,” his longtime supporter said during a radio interview.

People close to Ted Cruz said after the convention in Cleveland that the Texas senator would not endorse Trump because he saw his former rival as an authoritarian in the mold of Benito Mussolini.

Now Cruz is sticking with someone who he sees as a strongman — and who has also suggested that his father was somehow involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy and who has criticized his wife’s physical appearance.

This cave in must be interpreted as Cruz essentially agreeing with Trump about Heidi, and his father.

-- History will not be kind to these Trump collaborators in the GOP establishment, conservative thought leader Ross Douthat argues in an important column for today’s New York Times:

“In bending the knee to Trump last spring, they thought that they were buying party unity and a continued share of power, and paying for it with just a little of their decency, a mite of their patriotism, a soupçon of their honor.

They may find out soon enough that all this bargain bought them was an even harsher reckoning, and that all they will inherit is the wind. … History in its day to day is not a morality play. But sometimes there is a clear chastisement, a moment when the judgments of providence seem stark. And so it may be for the men who led the Republican Party into its Trumpian inferno.”
