Cosmic, welcome to my world. By all means have the medicos check it out for something
obvious and fixable. More than likely it will be neither. That said you will then find that you
can live with it and climb. My back goes out about once a year for 3-6 days. Then it
miraculously fixes itself and in two days I'm as good as ever, such as it is. Nothing I've found
does any good.

HEAL UP, YOU KNOW YOU WILL!

Cosmic,

Hang in there. Stay strong.

Shalom, great Faith and prayers to you for healing.

Don't let them get you down in another infamous thread here on ST.

honestly Mr dingus it depends on the circumstance. if its a result of a one time injury then yes- surgery might be a good option. If its a result of chronic overuse/stress injures it is no bueno.

personally I have had several doctors openly tell me to avoid surgery at all costs

chronic pain sucks- but is better than losing even more function

all the best

Best wishes, Cosmic. Can't be fun. If it helps, I've had friends who were in your shape and recovered enough to do the things they love, albeit a bit slower and more careful.

VERY sorry to hear about your back pain

stenosis I know, along with four lower spine surgeries, like you

you are doing it right, get a fast MRI and have the surgeon look at it

IF they need to do surgery I hope you get a fast appointment and don't have to wait

cosmic: while given the difficulty of the circumstances, it's not much: my thoughts are with you... that your livelihood requires a [semi-] functioning body, means i hope you are expediently able to breathe, intuit and reason your way [with the help of the requisite outside experts] through the twists and turns of the road that currently lies ahead of you...

Cozmeek!

I wish you an end to your pain. Backs can suck. I have a friend who just had surgery for his stenosis and is happy with the results. He's not kayaking yet, but he expects to back out there again soon.

I can sympathize, Cosmic. Last October I sat down to change clothes and was hit with a pain in my buttocks like no other pain I've ever experienced. A shot of morphine didn't touch it. But a ten-day prednisone treatment helped considerably. My MRI showed scoliosis with a step-off, multiple stenosis, and several herniated discs. I'm feeling a lot better now.

If I can come back at my age, so can you. Stay positive and give the nerves a chance to cool down.

This is upsetting to hear.
I have relatives in town but I will call you soon.
It sounds like you have a great doc to see.
You are a good person. Rest up.

Very glad to be the conduit of vibes, Cosmic.

It's the least I can do for a friend who gave me a reel good resole job on the vintage Fires. No charge.

Thanks for being so damned persnickety and such a negative poster, too.

You suck in general otherwise.

Tie-dye is so passe
Not to mention de-classe
But no matter what they say
You know what they always say
So I won't say it again today.

Better soon, ya climbin' goon.
