Bozeman if you're a skier.
Bend isn't a sleeper but tons to do. And beer.
Same with Durango. Ouray is cool, too.

Maybe 3 decades ago. Back when the Filler was a pretty long bike ride at times.

My brother sold his contracting business and moved out of town in '96 because, "the construction industry here is on its way out."

Oops.

My wife has an English degree, fluent in Spanish and has a background in customer service and graphic arts...along with her current employment in mutual funds for the past 17 years.

I think a background in graphic arts would open up a lot of options in smaller towns.

Not a sleeper town, but it has a lot of sleeper areas that are a year or two away from blowing up: Philadelphia. Plus Philadelphia has a lot of small to mid-size firms that need controller talent, not to mention Comcast, Verizon, and a huge number of major hospitals. Wife is an english teacher... Philadelphia school district could probably use her talents pretty quickly or even one of the many major universities in town. And she worked in an investment house? Many large brokerages in town that are looking for folks who want to be on a CFA track.

Gunks three hours north, New River Gorge six hours SW, Seneca Rocks four hours SW and a strong local climbing crew in Philly and California is only a 5:30 flight away and is served non-stop by three international airports within a two hour drive. NYC is two hours away, DC is two and a half hours away.

Maybe not your cup of tea but might be your shot of whisky.

Hey Roots,
I know a few folks with the title of Controller, all at wineries (Sonoma County). Maybe check out the smaller ones in the foothills?

Hello Roots,

If you have to live in a town, check out the controller posting for 10 Barrel Brewing Co. in Bend. I am currently a controller but have lived in villages for the past 15 years.

Cody, Nebraska located on the lonely highway.

People sleep there.

I like these towns.

No climbers, no skiers, no adventurers, just plain ordinary Americans digging in the dirt raising their living.

My kinda place .....

sempervirens! Re your question:
Do you guys really call it Cali?

I haven't posted on this thread until now, but unless I'm among the many Californians who have moved to Idaho, I usually say fukin-Californians.

And of course, most every native Idahoan's fondest dream is: 50,000 Californians driving back to California, each with two wolves in their backseat.

However! We can welcome Roots!
