Went to an event at the Porsche Experience Center here in LA last week that our bank for work sponsored. Some cool cars in the main lobby:

Then we got to go flog a 911 Carrera 4S and a 718 Cayman GTS back to back on the handing circuit. That was good for a giggle or two. Launch control on both was a hoot.

Saw these driving home from a backpacking trip on Sat.

Pretty great cars, but why were they all staying at a Fairfield Inn? Cars got them broke? The Mclarens (sp?) were especially impressive. The dark one was all carbon fiber under the rear hatch, where I assume the motor is. That one and the blue Lambo were sitting at idle the whole time. Impressive sounds coming from the power plants, to say the least. That said, I had a far better time in the woods with my dog than I would’ve had driving those impressive machines around. Had to stop and rubberneck though. Cool cars for sure.

This has been one cool car for me. Very few places I have wanted to go that it didn't get my family there and back.

Past the San Joaquin river crossing and some sketchy high-clearance humps past Jackass Meadow:

Hot springs east of Mammoth, cool spot to hang out between winter storms:

East of Tom's Place?

Somewhere between Benton and Bishop?

Lot's o' good times:

Hole in the Rock Road, Escalante:

Somewhere between Tonopah and Benton?

An ill-advised attempt somewhere near Bonneville Salt flats:

Off-roading Kemerrer Wyoming style:

Death Valley:

Coming up on 200k miles, it has served me well and still going.

Edit for Clifff: 2009 Toyota Prius :)

My dad just sold his hot rod that he made from the ground up to Joe Bonamassa last week.

Hey mouse, thanks for those Lambo videos, they are great! So much throttle oversteer; sure proves there are a lot of people with more money than driving skills.

During the winter, back when I was racing, I would, on a slow Sunday when the crew was over, open up the garage, start the formula car and warm it up, then back up to the door frame, rev the engine and dump the clutch and light the tires, then it was a test to see if you could get on the binders and stop before hitting the front of the garage. I suspect the few beers we consumed made it see like a good idea. Never hit the wall though. Did leave a few black marks on the concrete.

Edited to add: The car in question. Also cool. Reynard Formula Ford 2000.

Ed, didjya see that ‘62 GTO went for $48 million yesterday at Monterey?
A number of people thought it would push 60! I guess they musta found
some non-original fingerprints on it, huh?

If a daytona coupe ever comes up for auction, the seller should put a case of 70's vintage napa wine in the drivers seat.

Reilly,
Ferrari's took a jump right after Pebble a couple years ago when, for the first time, a Ferrari won best in show, that was the year they had 21 of 22 testarossas in the world on display next to the 17th green.. it was amazing..

The above was Ferrari's 60th anniversary in the USA as celebrated by Ferrari closing down Rodeo Drive for a day. with 60 notable cars on display including the US debut of La Ferrari.

as for 2018 Pebble..were you there?? did Sam Mann buy it? not his usual style to buy at an auction, but if he wanted it...
i do not have the Mercedes gig there anymore...

Jim,
I saw a blue and silver Daytona at the inaugural Scottsdale Concours a few years ago, value was pegged at 42M, i think that was 2012.. only 24 were made, it may be that 3 survive, not sure on this.

Nut,
what a great dad you are!!

Real life Hotwheels car, we saw this at the local gas station (in 2014). The guy gassing it up is the builder, Mark Towle. the car is currently for sale, $149,000.

^^^^^. That’s the guy that built it? Rad! 🤪

Am lusting after an F Type R. Some low miles 15’s and 16’s out there but then I look at
low mileage 15 and 16 Z06’s which can be had for a LOT less! Not as pretty as the F Type
but a whole lot more bang for the buck, huh? Oh, the horror! Yeah, that’s what my
insurance agent will say, too!

FYI The mid-engine Vette is ripping the Nurbergring a new one as we speak! WOOT!
