Needs to go as soon as possible!!!!!! Car is in San Mateo, California!

Well I am in desperate need to sell my 1999 Subaru Forester! To make a long story short I have been traveling in it on the West Coast he past 7 months and had some mechanical problems happen that I can't afford and I am looking to sell the car as is for a reasonable price! Looking for someone who shares the love of the cars and doesn't have a problem fixing this one up. I need to sell it as quickly as possible as I need to get it off of my hands. I want 1500$ for it OBO Car is registered in South Carolina.

1999 Subaru Forester (Green)
218,000 mi
Brand new tires as of 2015
new engine belts as of April 2015

Repairs needed:
rear strut/axle problems
rear brakes
broken window (happened while I was in San Francisco)
Chipped window
Internal Fuel Smell
Passenger Door-speaker cracks

Other than that the car runs great, doesn't overheat, airconditiong works and is a great car. Its hard for me to sell it but I really need to get rid of it. Its currently in San Mateo and will need a tow from where it is to get the work done. It does drive just not very safe to drive over 5-10mph.

Please contact me on my cell phone (864-506-0776) if you are at all interested in buying, or making some sort of deal. It will help me out TREMENDOUSLY!

What happens in San Mateo stays in San Mateo. Take your $100 from the junk man and go
back to school. Be sure and get a title release.

Last year I got $1500 for a 99 Forester that didn't even run (here in AK). Good luck!

http://www.kbb.com/subaru/forester/1999-subaru-forester/sport-utility-4d/?category=&intent=trade-in-sell&pricetype=private-party&condition=fair&persistedcondition=fair&quizconditions=&options=&path=&vehicleid=6028&mileage=218000

Looks to be worth around $700 +-. I'd go to kbb enter the options, your location, etc and get the private party price. Either sell it firm at that or ask for a few hundred more and have some room to negotiate. Asking for twice what it's worth won't sell it unless you find a sucker. Look what similar cars are listed for on Craigslist and see if its in agreement with kbb. If they are more $ than kbb but sitting there for 2 weeks plus people aren't being realistic. Sometimes kbb is off but it's usually pretty accurate A properly priced car should sell in less than two weeks.

Good luck.

KBB says 1400$ so i'm not to far off at all. I'd go down to 1400 no problem. Just need to get rid of it that badly...

Make note of the options if you list it on craiglist or here. Automatic tranny, top of the line S model, etc. As you see it makes a big difference in the price.

Maybe give an estimate of repair parts / labor cost if you know them.

guyman's advice may actually work. An high mileage subaru isn't in demand in the bay area, but in the East Side or somewhere else with snow and people without a lot of money but willing to work on it you may have better luck.

This East side recommendation is a valid point. I just don't have a way to get it there, I guess i could switch my advertisement to that area, got any suggestions on where i could set the location for? Thanks

I'd buy it if it was a 1979 Subaru 1600 4wd, but those seem to be scarce now.
