Many of the idoits on THIS forum (eff the other forums) know Werner. Some for sure do not.

If the latter were to see the day-to-day idoicy of tourons AND CLIMBERS who get in trouble, call for help, and then get saved (alive) by Werner and his team, only to have him mutter something about being stupid, but smiling in the way he has...they'd change their tune.

He's an okay guy stuck in a sorry-ass situation. He's seen more shyte than donini has climbs under his belt, I'll bet, and he's still doin' his job, when many have gone round the bend long since in their careers involving public safety. EMTs and rescue folks experience trauma and can bottle it up for a time, only to have it erupt in their ending their careers early because they don't or can't deal any longer with human imperfection, shall we say.

Cut the man some fricken slack, that's all I'm sayin'.

And learn the meaning of "schtick," which is the theme of any comedian's act.

Werner's schtick is to lampoon stupidity and it's just too bad that America's reputation suffers from his humor more so than other nationalities.

So what if it carries over to lots of other topics than climbing? When your little kid comes swingin' into the house sayin' "Stupid Meskins" or something like it, THEN you can legitimately criticize Werner.

Until then, shut yer pie holes.

And Locker, you are 100% right!!!!! I feel like such a fool, now...

I don't know Werner. I have read of him some in the Yosemite book, Death in the Valley, rescuing a young man stranded near Yosemite Falls in a rain storm with rocks flowing down the escape route , at night, on his own. And that is only one of many people he has rescued.

Similar to what Donini said, I will always give great consideration to his opinion and almost always agree with it.

Old school has its place, you young bucks.
