I'm very happy for David with this news, but I am particularly stoked for Claudia, David's mom, who has been a rock throughout this entire time. I have kids, but I really can't fathom what she has been going through since the accident occured. Prayers for her continuing strength.

I'm so happy to learn that David has regained consciousness and is still with us in mind as well as body.
What a miracle that was dealt from the care and talent of everyone he encountered since his accident. I don't know David personally, but have been keeping him in my prayers as I do for anyone who I learn is on the super taco injured list.

This is the absolute best. Man, thinking about the pure joy this kid radiated in his pics, and knowing it might forever be gone had me bummed for some time.
Here's to the power of youth, and good people who just don't know how to give up. Kudos to everyone involved.

Holy freakin' cats and dawgs! This is great news. With that kind of response, he should do well, yes? Go, David! My heart swells. Such good news.

Great news. Hey does anybody know what room he's in? Is he still at CRMC here in Fresno? I might try to stop by and just say hello today after work. Never met him but a fly by might be cool one climber to another. If any of you know his last name I can call the hospital. Feel free to shoot me an email.

More good news posted on his Go Fund Me page!
"David is breathing on his own with a trach collar!!!! - respiratory rate: 18, O2 saturation: 98%
Huge step in the right direction (to not be ventilator dependent), plus: he can cough instead of needing to be suctioned to clear his lungs. He is blowing kisses to the nurses he likes when they leave the room, looks like he found a way around the fact that he cannot talk yet ;) Respiratory intends to add a single valve in a couple days to the trach collar (if he continues to be able to breathe on his own), which will allow him to try and speak. You got this David!!!!"
