I don't want to be the start of misinformation, JTM. I don't know if that's the climb he was on. There are two nice 10.bs that start at the same spot. They all kind of share the same start through an easy 5 th class section before the "real" climbing starts.

Sorry- thought someone said he was on that climb (it was you guessing)- regardless- they all sort of share that same start where he evidently fell.

Hey all
I ran across this GoFundMe on facebook today. I'd spent a few days on the East side, including climbing at Patricia bowl (which was very beautiful and serene) and everyone I ran into were very concerned with the climber who fell, David Pearson. I think that our community is awesome and can come together for some great things when we allow ourselves. I've shared the GoFundMe link here as he has major medical funds he is in need of.

A message from Claudia, David's mom:
David had a serious accident on Sunday, August 16th. He took a fall while climbing and is in critical condition with serious brain injuries. My utmost and most sincere gratitude to his friends who saved him while waiting for a helicopter. You are my heroes - I cannot find the words to thank you.
He is at the Trauma Center in Fresno in the ICU. His sister and I are by his side every minute since Sunday night. He is not supposed to have other visitors. Please know that we were asked to not even touch him to reduce any stimulation. I know David will love to see you when he regains consciousness.
In addition to a bleed in his brain, he has a vertebrae base fracture on C2 for which they intend to put him in a halo after he stabilizes. His Trauma and Neuro team are trying to lower his intracranial pressure.
Sedatives, diuretics and pain meds did not lower the pressure enough, as of last night he is on meds to paralyze his brain. Removing part of his skull is still an option as last resort.
We cannot believe the outpouring support, kindness and caring from his friends and his community.
Thank you so much for sending your strength, your positive thoughts and vibes and your prayers!!
Please continue to pray for him to heal and to get better. I will send updates when I can.
-Claudia Pearson

Here's another update from David's mother:
"Still very critical, still in medically induced coma. His ICP (intra cranial pressure) still not stable. Neuro team was planning craniectomy to reduce pressure on Friday, then decided to wait a few more days as long as they can still give him meds to lower the ICP when necessary.
Good news: he is still here and hanging on. CT Angiogram did not show additional intra cranial bleeds. Neuro team is saying that brain swelling might start to decrease - but is unable to tell us what his chances of recovery are. We have to wait. Once his ICP becomes stable, they will stabilize his fractured vertebrae.
We are still with him around the clock.
Thank you for sending your love, support and prayers - will provide an update once information becomes available."
She also wanted to urge others to please use helmets while climbing. She says that his medical team unanimously agree that he would be in much better shape had he worn a helmet that day.
On a personal note: David has been a good friend for many years. Anyone that knows him will tell you that David LOVES climbing and is the pure definition of "stoke". It's really been inspiring to see all the support from our community.
And if you can donate to his medical bills, please do at: http://www.gofundme.com/davidpearson
If you can't, just send him prayers, good vibes, and positive thoughts. He really is an amazing person and deservse all the love we can give right now.

Re. helmets: The new ones are so light, you hardly know you're wearing one. NOT preaching here, but I always throw one on the ol' noggin these days. Accidents happen. Might as well tilt the odds in your favor.
Hang in there, bro!
