Carson hates gay people, is scared of Muslims, and would turn women into baby factories.

How is he any different?

He is a misogynysotic, divisive, fearful hate monger.

Even The Donald gets that the US dollar and its bonds are still the last bastion of financial safety and will continue to be for quite a while.

I think you're missing what happens when interest rates rise. Sure, U.S. government debt securities are safer than almost any other investment. The issue isn't the safety of the bonds, it's the effect of interest payments on governmental budgets. If we had not been experiencing negative real interest rates for most of this administration's tenure, we would be paying monumentally large debt service. At least the U.S. government can increase the supply of dollars. State and local governments, with their gargantuan, off-the-books, debt for pensions of retired public employees, have no recourse.

If you think California's budget is ugly now, just wait.

"Have you noticed that everyone of these candidates say, 'Obama's weak. Putin's kicking sand in his face. When I talk to Putin, he's going to straighten out,'" Obama said, impersonating a refrain among Republican candidates that he's allowed Russian President Vladimir Putin too much leeway.

"Then it turns out they can't handle a bunch of CNBC moderators at the debate. Let me tell you, if you can't handle those guys, then I don't think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you," Obama said.

Exactly.

Currently, we are enjoying low gas prices, low interest rates and the stock market is high. Why is there not a movement to repeal the 2 term amendment and renew another 4 years of this wonderful President?

But the debt spirals ever upward. At some point, not so far in the future, it will be the debt markets making policy decisions via bond downgrades.

The tone was terrible. Sure some of the questions were legitimate, but the whole tenor of the thing was whack. Hardly any decorum.

Well, in fairness they were at a Republican debate after all...

Actually Obama mischaracterized the scenario. They handled the moderators fairly well.
The republicans should shut up and move on, otherwise they look their usual pathetic.

BTW:
Didn't the dems, including Obama, refuse to debate on Fox back in 2008? 2 times?
Kinda ironic, eh?

As far as the national debt of the past 7 or so years:

I wish Republicans would acknowledge how many times the debt has doubled under Republican presidents. It tripled under their hero Reagan. Why didn't they say anything when it doubled under George Bush Jr?

This in no way means I don't recognize the seriousness of our debt. I cheered when dems and repubs under Clinton worked to balance the budget and even start to pay down the debt. I would cheer again. I don't care who does it. Just get it done.

Yeah, I guess, but the urgency has been overstated. The first priority for the past several years should have been recovery from the disastrous recession. Anyway, debts always go up during recessions.

Indeed. Fiscal responsibility, seems to be a code for chopping the other sides programs. Bush Jr, really opened the debt floodgates after 9/11. I feel so much safer. Having lots of Generals and Admirals with huge pensions, really adds to our defense.

As for the debt lacking urgency, fact is, it's tripled within the last several years. We're in uncharted territory with numbers, that are so large, no one really has a feel for it.

But there's simply no good reason to continue to run up massive debts at this time.

Sounds like you guys are using Bush's irresponsible spending to excuse Obama's spending.

True, debts do go up during a recession. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Great Recession ending over 6 years ago.

Democrats ignore the election results last night at their peril. This "outsider" thing is real. Trump or Carson could very well be the GOP nominee. Their base is motivated, taking aside how ridiculous their candidates are. Right-wing media has done it's job, and the rise of social media negates comparisons to past elections.
