Impaler: Thank you. You're right, one obviously has to tease out the wheat from the chaff. And even though I haven't located the owner of the gear, at least the facts are out there and whoever gets on that route in the future can make a more informed choice about how to deal with it.

Just to clarify, when I parted company with Dean I left with nothing of his, freely given or otherwise. But I'm glad he chimed in here: One should never squander an opportunity to represent oneself in a saintly light even if it's completely unrelated to the topic being discussed.

Sigh. You really feel the need to derail this thread and rehash all of this again (all the while acting like you're above reproach)? I refrained from responding to your one-sided bs because, unlike you, I took issue with running people's names through the mud publicly. I also took issue with divulging people's personal stories publicly without their consent. When I did tell my side of the story I tried to be diplomatic and respectful but, predictably, that thread was conveniently deleted.
