Indeed! And there's some pretty exciting, run-out, mandatory free climbing on the Sea too. I remember being way out from my last aid piece getting onto Continental Shelf. Seems like it was 5.10+ or some such and 40-50 feet out.

Another Chapeau to Watermann2 who has such enthusiasm for all kinds of climbing, and brings a happy tone to the Forum.

Harrrrrrd getting onto the Shelf. I warned Andy Kirkpatrick about that.

An endearing route and quality experience. It's cool to read so many people's experiences on it.
I find it interesting that the drilling is perceived as a necessary part of a valid route, where as most other routes get slagged on a hole by hole basis.
I met the Bird at the base while fixing, and came across Gerberding in the meadow trees after descending.
Feels like some magic fairy world I used to live in. There was always that pic of Xavier on the bigwall book cover that was cool.

Not by me, lol. I don't think it's a legitimate metric by which to "judge" a route. I do "slag" people who add chicken-holes to existing routes, though.
Reminds me of that commercial: "Exactly what part of a chicken is the nugget?"
Exactly what part of a chicken is the hole? Anyway, chicken-holes. We know what we're talking about.

Hey Richard,
I'm Brent. My comment was in no way directed at you, although it is easy to see how that connection is made.
I know who you are. I'm overly familiar with the game of holes in aid climbing.
I apologize if you took offense.

No, no... SO sorry that I gave the wrong impression. I think I understood what you were saying, and in my apparently too oblique way I was agreeing with it.
Thank you for your kindness, Brent, and again I'm sorry for giving the wrong impression.
I read somewhere: "The biggest mistake in communication is the belief that it's happening at all." Too often true, particularly in electronic formats.
All the best to you!
