1975 Sierra Design sleeping bag, but I mostly use my newer synthetic loft bag these days...

As long as they're not stored compressed, down bags last forever. I have a bag that I bought in the 1970s.

Holy Cow, I thought my bag was old.
I have stored it in the large storage sack, and it still appears to have plenty of loft.
No plans to replace.

Have a Marmot -20 bag from 35 years ago. It has lost a little loft and the G-Tex is delaminating. I've thought about returning it under the lifetime warranty, but figure I've gotten my monies worth. Kept me warm in a few sh#t storms.

It is guaranteed to last a real long time if you never use it! Get your ass outside, now!!!

I'm with the "down-bags last forever if you take care of them & store them in a larger breathable bag" group.

1. North Face Unimog I bought 2 years old & heavily-used in 1970 & replaced with a lighter bag in 1975. It was a loaner bag so it did not get a lot of use after that. North Face replaced some blown baffiles in the 1990''s for free and I finally sold it on E-Bay a couple years back for $50.00.

2. Camp 7 30 f. bag that was custom-filled from George Lamb's personal stash of 650-fill down in 1975. It has averaged 30 nights yearly of use since then. After 40 years it is now a 35 f. bag.

Hard to believe 1990 was 25 yrs ago.

I have a "Thaw" bag from the late 60's, early 70's or so, inherited from father. Thaw was an REI subsidiary. No idea what it's rated, but it's quite heavy and warm. I'd guess it was one of their best, warmest bags. Used it a lot though my teens and 20's. Wife still uses it today for car camping.

a friend received a 25 pound block of limburger cheese from his worried girl friend

That is a genius method of defending territory, by making it undesirable for any would-be competitors :)
