"Trump's policies have little in common with Republicans'."

Can you clarify which Republican Party you are referring to?

This current version...whatever the hell it is...has little semblance to the version that was present during the last POTUS election, and is virtually unrecognizable from that of 20+ years ago.

John- Yeah I had always thought that the delegate system and the electoral college were antiquated vestiges of the days of American patronage long past. I can now see quite clearly why the Founding Fathers designed them.

John posted
I suppose I should look on the bright side. The election will be between the Democrats' nominee and a third-party candidate, since Trump's policies have little in common with Republicans'.

I think you might be wrong there. It looks like "conservatism" meant something specific to the party elite, but to a large portion of the coalition that made up the Republican base it really meant "things I generally agree with." Apogee is exactly right. Republicans have failed in every way to create a party built on the principles that Reagan represented.

Basic civility does not exist on this site.

That's why its simply not worth any time.

Since your hiatus, cragman, I'd say the personal attack level on ST has diminished about 80%. Several bad eggs bit the dust.

I disagree with you politically on just about everything, but you have every right to express your opinion and vote for whomever you want. If you're going to make the case for Trump, or disparage Hillary, well, you'll likely get a rebuttal, but, hopefully, nothing too personal.

For madbolter:

Despite the inspector general's report, criminal charges against Clinton remain highly unlikely. While the report provides previously nonpublic information relevant to Clinton's motivations, the available public evidence remains insufficient to illustrate two facts needed for a criminal charge -- that she knew that emails on her private server were classified and that she intentionally mishandled classified information.

Some have already begun to seize upon the inspector general's report, mischaracterizing it as clear evidence of a crime. And when the Department of Justice announces that it is not filing criminal charges -- as is both expected and perhaps inevitable -- Clinton will likely argue that it constitutes proof that she did nothing wrong.
Based on the publicly available evidence, the reality appears to be nuanced in a way that is satisfying to neither side.
Clinton violated the law, but committed no crime.

I'm putting my money where my mouth is, straight Hillary VS Trump. I say Hillary and I say $500 she will win.

I worked in the restaurant business for 40 years, care less about going to another one. :-)

Let's be clear: Hillary should in no way face charges for the email scandal....

....and it's completely bullshit that she did it that way.

aight Bob D'A... at first i was going to decline a cash only wager, but fewer people have ponied up than i thought might and having something riding on this race will hopefully make it a little more entertaining... possibly even a little less disconcerting, as this way, with either outcome i win.

and just so there are no questions later, the bet is for US $500.

i look forward to checking in with you and Moose on Nov. 9...

a cash bet?

Let me REPEAT my many times offer

I have $5000 that I will put up in an account if you will do the same

the money will be in a account under the personage of someone we both trust and respect

and that person will release the full amount to the winner right after the election

for example, I would have no problem with Locker, Dirtbag, Apogee, etc

$5000 says Hillary Clinton beats Donald Trump

I am ready, are you?

from a few pages back:

if clinton isn't indicted, and the, what at this point appears to be, mostly inevitable clinton vs trump race does come to fruition, i'll place money that trump wins.

here are the terms:

1. clinton can't be indicted before the election date [ie. her securing the dem nomination is not enough to set the bet in motion: she has to stay indictment free before the election date]
2. obviously it has to be a trump vs clinton race.
3. if trump wins you owe me a day of climbing at one of your favourite places and then a meal at one of your favourite restaurants [no chains allowed and it must serve alcohol :)]. i have to come to a place that you agree with in order to collect.
4. if clinton wins i owe you a day of climbing at one of my favourite places [i'm based out of western canada, but have favourites all over western north america] and a meal at one of my favourite restaurants [i guarantee no chains and the serving of alcohol] and you have to come to a place that i agree with in order to collect.

You libs think that you can just screw the middle class, screw the middle class, and give-away, give-away, and give-away to the "poor" (who are vastly better off than anywhere else in the world), and we're gonna just keep quiet and call it good?

f*#k you are ignorant. its big business that runs the country, not the government. and its the morons that you vote for who have screwed the middle class. from pacs to lobbyists, its guys like trump who do not pay their fair share so you can pay more. because your republican government doesn't give a sh#t about you or your bitching. the republicans are too busy trying to get big money to worry about you.

and while i'm not, if i was interested in making more than friendlyish bets, i'd take the 2/1 odds that the professionals are offering, over your 1/1 ;)

Norton, of course Killary is going to win. Not because she wins the most votes, but because our voting system is fraudulent and corrupt. Almost no one I know can stand her or Trump.

hi Studdly!

so let's see, per our Constitution -people vote in each state, the votes are computer tallied and whichever candidate gets the most votes in that state they get the Electoral Votes and whomever gets to 270 Elector Votes becomes President

seems clear to me, so what exactly is "fraudulent and corrupt" about it?
