Yup.
He's retired, doesn't drink, at prizefighter weight and climbing like a kid. He looks younger than he did 20 years ago. It was great to see him. Send him a PM, he'll get it eventually.

Hey @flip, I just read into the core of your thread today -- sorry I let it go by, earlier. I've been on the road you're on right now. Hang tough, man. There's big jug holds around the corner. Negativity and doubt will destroy; your innate positivity, and goodwill toward others are the keys to survival and success.

Flip-Flop,

If you could tolerate living in or near the Big Raisin, and having to deal with the likes of its inhabitants, like me, I'm told there's work available. What areas would be particularly suited for you?

In any case, you have my best wishes. While my family has stayed intact, my finances and sanity were not always so, and I had to endure a six-month, taxpayer-funded vacation at beautiful Taft, so I think I can relate.

I hope things turn better for you soon. In the meantime, know that you have a lot of supporters on ST.

I'm not dead yet.

The Judge ordered me to keep a phone. That's fine. My phone is my access to my boy and work and you fine people. I'm still in desperate straits but I was able to get to Truckee and find some work hauling rounds and tiling. A quick gasp. If all goes well then I'll have registration and insurance again tomorrow and some new second hand tires on Tuesday.
The job finished and now I'm trying to decide whether to blow my last money on going to see Sasha for our Birthday on Saturday. Or some day near Saturday. I can write these words and not weep. That's an improvement. No, I guess that I can't.
But wait, you guys, it's been really great. Seriously. I'm a climber again. Not much but almost every day. Getting above the gear, bouldering , traveling to climb. I'm committed. Or should be. Best of all is the people. Today was bouldering at the AK boulders with German and Nora from Barcelona. She's a vet working at Davis studying wild birds' effects on crops. Rad. He's beyond stoked on trad and doing similar high-wattage stuff at Davis too. It's been a parade of friendly and respectful climbers. Kelly from Colo. Olly and Martine from Utah and Argentina. A boat load of Baysians. Even hooking up with the Original Partners.
Smart money says that I should figure out a way to steal back my tiny house camp from F*#king Bank of F*#king America. That's it behind me. I can always find work here. Hell, even dignified carpentry work. And the boy loves it. LOVES. I hate myself. F*#k. F*#k. F*#k. Sorry, it's the Tourette's. Fuvk smart money.
I'm going to go take it out on the girl with the cherry tattoos.
Best regards,
Flip Flop

Ps.

Seņor Noruego,

There is an important phrase used by Certain Travelers from Tahoe. It has been used extensively in Sweden, Camonix, Berner Oberland, Switzerland and probably Norway, too. Being a Californio, you will want to learn it in Spanish first.

Hola.
Mi nombre es [your name]
Soy Montaņero
Tengo una motosierra muy grande.

Hi.
My name is Norwegian.
I'm a Hillbilly.
I have a big chainsaw.

That, my friend, is a gift from me to you. Enjoy responsibly.
