Hi there Mouse, and welcome home.
You have put together a lot of words, and I must go read at least some of them.
Glad to have you back here, Fire Keeper.

Welcome back, silent sojourner
Photo man, silent no more.
Here's some more muddlefudding
To go with your morning pudding

Hope and Bad Baggage
with Aplomb from the Tomb

In the quiet stultifying hour of three
My eyes can't clearly see
Through the haze of drifting dreams
Of what I've seen or dreamed to be

Wicked Tom of trickery
Foisted bad ideas
Foisted on the masses
Sticking it to their minds like molasses

The disenfranchised ones
Along with daughters and sons
Followed like sheep
To grow back the parasitic mental disorders
Of you know the drill
Such a bitter pill

This is what becomes of the mind
In a world of confusion
So unkind
A firestorm of warped ideas
And delusion

And across the hall looking back at me
Are two eyes in the shadows
So familiar
Only love do they seek
In a world sometimes so bleak

Luke the dog only needs
That I greet him with affection
And he moans ever softly
With the slightest of attention

Soft reflective pools of light
Emoting wonder in the night

And my mind works the same way
Only slower at first
But winding up
A spring uncoils
And once again I feel that thirst

With eyes wide open
To see what the world would bring
Though by now I might think
I'd seen everything

Oh
Such hubris

But often bewilderment at least
Lingers through the witching hour
As dawn approaches
To the east

From embarrassment, mostly.
2/03/27

We were not prepared for the epoch of rebellion and mass round-ups which began in the year following the election.
The population was taken by surprise, seemingly.
Where did that army of Secret Police come from?
They were veterans looking for jobs, unable to score.
They were from private sector security firms contracted to the Defense Department.
They were progeny of militia from the backwoods.
They were merks from all over the globe.
There were rumors that some were green card holders under threat by Immigration, but that was never proven.
Ten years and it's not over yet.
It's my turn up on the fifth floor lookout in ten minutes.
Tomorrow we are hauling water up to the tanks...seventy-four steps and two ladders.
Five gallon loads in the old Indian piss-pumps we got from the Mariposa Battalion.
Everyone gets to haul his own water this way.
Each father and mother make a carry for the younkers, who must also make the climb right behind them, carrying an appropriate load as well.
Signing off.

Keep that sh#t coming, My Brave Cowboy.

Gracias, amigo.

A little yelp from my friend.

I asked my friend Lydia the waitress where she liked to go for Mexican food in Merced.
When she got coy, saying she made her own, I pressed her.
She was hard to pin down.
She admitted to liking Trevino's down the street only because of their homemade flour tortillas. She's a movie fan, like the boss, who keeps changing the poster.
"Majestic Ahwahnee is much better than Grand Hotel and more hip, too."
Short Walk for Coffee Talk

I believe I'll go downtown. It's right across the street.
I believe I'll have some coffee. With sugar it's so sweet.
I may order pancakes or I may have French Toast.
But Farmer Brothers is the brew that I love the most.

They are having a Chili Verde Omelet and a Farmer's Favorite.I had a confrontation while sitting at the counter eating my French toast.
Street Guy comes in, stands next to me, and I look over and say hi, but he ignores me and starts talking to his shadow self, I guess.
He moves off a spot, still standing there, taking three stools away on Gerry's busiest morning so far this year.
He is having a private conversation, so I strain not to listen.
My ear-hustling nerve reacts badly.
He orders a large coffee to go.
Lydia serves it, offering creamers. Streetie ignores her after getting his change but keeps up his jive.
He's still there after several minutes, so Gerry comes over and talks to him, gets a jumbled response.
He is concerned, but knows to take it easy and he politely dumps some un-treated coffee out for the customer, as he requests.
Gerry sees this is going nowhere, so he goes outside to seat some more diners and get them menus.
Street Guy's taking his time, getting louder, too, upset by Gerry's concern.
I take the bull by the horns and say something like get gone, scram, hit the road, but politely and telling him YES, I AM TALKING DIRECTLY AT YOU AND YOU ARE RUINING MY OTHERWISE FINE MORNING.
He gets all up in my face and I get right back in his, telling him the cops are just a phone call away.
(Well, they'd have you believe it so, but we've documented proof they don't get there as soon as they should. The lady in the crosswalk two weeks ago is ample example.)
This little brouhaha is broken up just in the nick of time, before the confrontation escalates by Gerry,
who comes in from seating folks and addresses Street Guy in a tone he can understand.
It helps that Gerry's a head taller.
The guy leaves mumbling, still belligerent, but knowing he can't back up his sh#t.
I gave Gerry a copy of that poem and he liked it, saying he'll show it to Joyce, his wife, who's been enjoying my photos that I've sent via email.

When the Man Comes Around
By Johnny Cash

And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder:

One of the four beasts saying: "Come and see."

And I saw.

And behold, a white horse.

There's a man goin' 'round takin' names.

An' he decides who to free and who to blame.

Everybody won't be treated all the same.

There'll be a golden ladder reaching down.

When the man comes around.

The hairs on your arm will stand up.

At the terror in each sip and in each sup.

Will you partake of that last offered cup,

Or disappear into the potter's ground.

When the man comes around.

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers.

One hundred million angels singin'.

Multitudes are marching to the big kettle drum.

Voices callin', voices cryin'.

Some are born an' some are dyin'.

It's Alpha and Omega's Kingdom come.

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree.

The virgins are all trimming their wicks.

The whirlwind is in the thorn tree.

It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

Till Armageddon, no Shalam, no Shalom.

Then the father hen will call his chickens home.

The wise men will bow down before the throne.

And at his feet they'll cast their golden crowns.

When the man comes around.

Whoever is unjust, let him be unjust still.

Whoever is righteous, let him be righteous still.

Whoever is filthy, let him be filthy still.

Listen to the words long written down,

When the man comes around.

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers.

One hundred million angels singin'.

Multitudes are marchin' to the big kettle drum.

Voices callin', voices cryin'.

Some are born an' some are dyin'.

It's Alpha's and Omega's Kingdom come.

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree.

The virgins are all trimming their wicks.

The whirlwind is in the thorn tree.

It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

In measured hundredweight and penny pound.

When the man comes around.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts,

And I looked and behold: a pale horse.

And his name, that sat on him, was Death.

And Hell followed with him.

Not sure if this is fitting with our times, but the lyric is timeless nonetheless.
I don't believe in gods or Satan, nor heaven and hell, except for that which we visit upon ourselves here on earth. But Mr Cash sure could write and sing.

All they will call you will be "detainees,"
like they did the "wily Japanese,"
whose farms were free to sieze
in spite of all their pleas.

I don’t understand why they don’t want me. I’m doing the best I can. I mean I can’t help that I was brought here but I don’t know anything else besides being here and I didn’t realize that until I was in a holding cell last night for 5 hours. I was brought here.

I didn’t choose to be here. And when I was brought here, I had to learn a whole new country and leave behind the one that I did know. And I barely knew that one.

I feel, I strongly feel that I belong here and I strongly feel that I should be given a chance to be here and do something good and work in this economy.

There’s so much that I can bring to the table, so much, like I can even teach music, I’m an excellent trumpet player you can ask my mom about any of that. I’m great with math, I speak Spanish.

You know, there’s a lot of stuff that I can do for this country that they’re not allowing me to do. I’ve even tried to join the military, and I can’t do that. But, I mean that’s not the point, the whole point is that I would do anything for this country.

Congratulations, Bushman.

I had ceviché & camaronés tostadas tonight while you were floating about in the China Sea. That's a new one for me; this die-hard fish taco avoider hath seen the way and it is a good trail. I broke the ice a few weeks ago with two fish tacos. I went all the way tonight.

I really loved the ceviché.

Pray for a buck.Deer neebee,
This is the result.
I told Martin of your bequest and he bought a soda, not cigarettes.

edit: the unquestioned answer to the unasked question posed by President Poteen is FOUR. Thumbs are not fingers--in fact, they are the direct opposite (where applicable). Restrictions may apply. In further fact, there may be other questions later, so we shall have to detain the former Commie and sweat him to make him tell where the other hand is and where it is hiding.
Just riffin', kiddies.

Spooks do not exist. Keep tellin' yourselves that.

I'm exhausted. Over 400 snaps today. I'm sure that I could come up with however many posts are needed to get to 10,000 for this thread (don't mention the original thread) tonight but what's the fun in hoarding?
