SAN DIEGO (AP) — California researchers have named a newly discovered rare plant after Jimi Hendrix.

The plant, found in Baja California, Mexico, has been christened Dudleya hendrixii , or “Hendrix’s liveforever.”

Liveforevers are a kind of succulent with enormous lifespans.

This one is a stalky plant less than a foot tall with pinkish-white flowers that dies in summer and re-sprouts in fall.

San Diego State University says a former graduate student, Mark Dodero, discovered the plant — supposedly while listening to Hendrix’s song “Voodoo Child.”
The university says Dodero and Stephen McCabe of the University of California, Santa Cruz, decided to name it for the late rock guitarist.

However,...the plant is in peril. San Diego State says its two-acre habitat is threatened by farming, off-road vehicles and development, but what isn't?
"I guess I'm goin' down to Mexxico, I guess."

I'm wonderin'...Dodero could have been a big Gabor Zsa-zsa fan. Dudleya zsa-zsa or Dudleya Gabor? I'll leave that one bee for now.

Have a good morning...in spite of it all.

I'm So Weary of Geary Views

A mountain of sound gear.
The seven-mile-long Geary Boulevard (or Geary Street, as it’s called east of Van Ness) was named after San Francisco's first mayor. John W. Geary was elected in 1850 and accomplished quite a bit while living in S.F. for just three years. Pictured: 4227 Geary St. corner at Stockton in Jan. 1907.

Sounds like a good read that I will like that mirrors very closely the book about the run up to the Second war, the invention of radar a the formation of the Rad Lab, wich brought Swiss tutors Tuxedo Ny and most certainly the real First climbers in the Gunks.
Remember, the story that you get to read is often nowhere near the truth.

Don't you wish you could read this one?

“[An] engaging and ambitious retelling of the Iridium saga . . . a panoramic narrative, laced with fine filigree details, that makes for a story that soars and jumps and dives . . . [A] big, gutsy, exciting book.” —The Wall Street Journal

“Pacy [and] . . . worth reading, not just for the wild ride that involves secretive Saudi sheikhs, plucky terrorists, never-say-die businessmen and Bill Clinton, but also as a reminder of how vast business can be vastly dumb . . . A thrilling boom-to-boom corporate drama.”—The Sunday Times (UK)

Pics from Kevin Hammon of the fire at the Asian market on Main Street last Sunday. KH owns BS Computers on the corner.
It began burning between 10 and 11 a.m. The initial trucks called in were from Merced, then other units rolled from as far away as Turlock.

AND I HEARD NOTHING!! But neither did John up on five. Deaf olfarts we are.

There was a claw on tracks tearing the walls down, at least the parts which were judged unstable, during this morning and early afternoon. They are making things safe for an investigation team to go in there. The street is still blocked to traffic, but won't be much longer, probably.

There IS rather a lot of drama in Toy Story, isn't there?

Especially with Mr. & Mrs. Potatohead. Just like with their boy Ron. Remember Ron, the guy with the beard and the funny top hat?

And Tom C is always stirring the cracked pot of conspiracy, so really, all's well.

Don't lose sleep over his revelations...

How about this, though, for drama?

If you watch Jeopardy!, quiz show #1, you know Cindy Stowell is the current champion. Cindy has passed away from cancer since the shows were taped, and they are still running. Her current winnings are immaterial at this point.

She was a smart cookie, "VICIOUSLY SMART" according to this link.

My condolence to her family and partner.
