Gee Nome, thanks for that reminder on the turmeric. I had let it slide while I was trying to get some baseline labs established.

I have to get back on track.

I have chugged it straight with water, but I think the ez_est route for me is to mix it into V8 (they make a 'lower' sodium version).

Anyone ever seen the photo of Steve "don't call me McGiver" with his rifle and animal rug?

Why, is it missing?

Why is it missing?

The photo or the rifle?

Don't rifle with my affectations.
-David Bowie

It's been said before, probably even written in the book:

One man gathers, what another man spills

Still trying to find a use (and how to use) my digital micrometer.

Another stunner. My neighbor down the hall, Miss Lulu. And she's an artist looking back!

Today is free comics day at Red Sky just around the corner from Middle Earth.

I was honored to meet these folks. I introduced myself as Scott Ruffalo's dad--Scottie owned Bueno Boarding just up the street years ago.

I don't remember the young couple's name, but he and I began a reminiscence of boarding from ten years ago, when Bueno competed with the lame Graffiti shop and kicked their butts at competition. Scott's personality had much to do with it.

The kids loved his attitude and his Jack Russel, Petie. (NOT Pito!)

While we were engrossed in our talk, somebody snatched my cold, just-purchased Lipton tea from where I had set it on the sidewalk!

It was OK, though I wish he had asked.

There was a lot to do on that little block of shops around noon. I went down expecting to find a gathering of skaters. The gig doesn't start until six p.m. tonight, however. I didn't think to check the poster for the time, but it was worth the trip down the stairs, the bottle of Lipton Sweet Tea notwithstanding.

This is a gallery of what I saw. I'm glad I set up where I did, out of the sun, in the shade of the southern side of the street. It is blazing out there!
I'm looking forward to seeing Scott and Jennifer and the grandkids tonight at the skate-fest...

The fattest Jack Russel terrier I've ever seen hangs out at the Cigar Monkey tobacco shop.

[ZBrown, I know how you feel about butts, amigo.]

Have to admit that giving blood is not my strong suit,
and the seasick feeling that lingers after the phlebotomist, has taken her samples remains all day.
I feel kinda like I'm at a parade in the heat of the day with nothin' to eat just smelling'
the perfume of life
and hot dogs and cotton candy and
latin panel and awkard salami toting joe's with one thumb ,
go take a shower!
oops just having fun
seems i still climb and get it done
at over 155lbs that sh#t is funny !
if I could loose more than a thumbs worth of weight I could send again!
to much on the thumbthing - did I take to understand that you Blew the darn thing off with a blasting cap?

That Darned Thumb was a Disney classic.

No, it was a carving knife wielded by a freaked-out farm woman.

No, wait!

It was when I fell at Tahquitz on the West Face. As I fell, the thumb lodged for a split-second in a crack, jammed, and gravity did the rest.

No, wait some more!

Now I "re-member!"

It was when I was cowboyin' out north of Crusted Butt, MT. This recalcitrant dogie was a-runnin' off from the bunch so I took off after the SOB. I had the loop on him, the pony stopped on a dime, and as I tried to dally the rope 'round the saddle cantle, the loop in the line came tight on my thumb, shearing it right plumb off! Happens a lot. Ya gotta pay attention.

No, the real story...I was a new worker in the CalPack peach cannery. I got my hand caught up in peach-pitting macinery, all sharp and fast-movin' and I couldn't get it out nor reach the red emergency stop button.

My supervisor was just as quick as a freaked-out farm woman chasin' mice and did it for me--he was standin' about ten feet away repairin' another one of those devil-machines.

Valium addiction followed, I went slowly to hell, and ended up a derelict in Camp 4. I owe my revival to a friendly climber named Rocky.

His advice was never to hurry, take your time, and check things a second time. Wish I'd not dropped the LSD the night before. I really do.

From Ben Hurry.[Click to View YouTube Video]Would have worked as a seasonal employee of CalPack for the rest of my life, had not there been divine intervention.

Rocky had his own problems. Mostly with women.[Click to View YouTube Video]

In protest, I will do nothin' to nobody nohow.

Let 'em do unto others what they will, I simply won't.

A peace guy has a hard road to travel, it's best done alone.

So why are all these folks behind me?

I didn't do nothin' to nobody nohow.

Mr. Farmer Bruce, sir:

I am shut-mouth speechless.

Tom Waits for no man...

but it's Tom Waits for me.[Click to View YouTube Video]
Or better yet, Slow Hand.[Click to View YouTube Video]Too early to crow for day...

and you can't sleep? Like me?

then let us go to a car show!

This is "that car thread," after all.

(We're not just a bunch of shiftless bums.)

Low-riders United States of America and Mexico.

Let us roll slow and ride low from Merced to Oslo.

[I'm on the sat-phone in the glove box.]

Bueno, Carlow speakin'.

Hey, mon, it's Mouse. You busy? You wanna ride with us?

Lemme check my shedyool, Mouse. Chit yeah, bro! Where we headin'?

No where, mon.

What we gonna do when we don't get there?

Absolutely nothin', mon. We are...just west of...this place. we just caught the Tom Waits gig.
[bzzzt...silence on the line.]

Well, that was a bust.

We'll just have to go on our way without you, bud. Better luck next time.

I don't know about you, mon. I got the muunchies. Let us grab a cupcake, or some meatball sliders, then take a snooze and cruise some more.Later, skaters.

If I go to edit the above post I loose everything after the second 'Plus' sign.

So much for 'eyes on the prize' symbol, or this )(, .. .. )( = sweet spot . . .

hmm that seems to workout ...

not that my silly symbol wearing a hat is not not worthy of an appearance,

it is just that he or she must show at the bottom of any post,

see below.
