Those berries apparently are poisonous
And more
All parts of the plant are poisonous, containing compounds that decompose to produce hydrogen cyanide, and could potentially be fatal if ingested. The plant is placed in Toxicity Category 4, the category "generally considered non-toxic to humans", but the berries are considered toxic to cats and grazing animals.

Are you confusing those with pyracantha berries, which grow in bunches and droop some?
I'm just kidding. They need to be leeched to remove toxicity.
I know from what because my mom and I, we used to put up pyracantha jelly to gift friends.
Always around Dec. first. Jars, lots of 'em. Sugar & pectin & labels.

there’s gnome escape
bear with me now

waiting and pensive
the dream was detached
the belay was sloping
the swami knot loose
the cams lying limply
in a slot at the stance
as I looked to the left
at a blind traverse
on wobbling flakes
up the best five nine crack
the world ever knew
I cast off on belay
climbing I announced
as I steadied myself
and stuck out my shoe
the blanket was stifling
the clock read near dawn
I tousled knowing

canines in tow

the tail smacks five against the door
we exit as he smiles good morn
his silence the voice of doggy joy
she yells you don’t have to knock
why don’t you just open up the door
laughingly I tell her
the dog’s tail smacked upon the door
he’s willing to take the blame
but she enters the kitchen
I don’t know what for
I said hey what are you doing
in my morning time at five am
she says she has to start the bread
she won’t go back to bed so I
determine to wear at her crabifore
outside the morning evening star
so impressive to me maybe
but the dogs don’t care about Venus
and attend to doggy needs
the morning star they just ignore
and so like all the other stars
I slink back in the house to warmth
to rub her back bent at the stove
she’s thinking ‘bout her next party
not oafs in the middle of her floor
