I will email them to you, Tamara.

A surprise hit for the spring and summer of 1969...released in October 1968 by Jamaican singer Desmond Dekker, the single was the first UK reggae number one and among the first to reach the US top ten.
Most of us in the US had never heard of reggae yet and the sound was strange, yet the tune seemed oddly familiar with the lower register harmonizing vocals during each chorus reminiscent of those heard in early 60's pop rock 'n roll songs.
That aspect of it made it sound a bit out of time and had many of us thinking we were hearing an early 60's "golden oldie" we had somehow forgotten.
It was hugely popular all the same, a catchy song with elusive lyrics that were difficult to understand except here and there....
Very danceable, if you know how to dance to it...and the young lady in this video appears to know just how, with a little help from Korla Pandit on ghost organ.

Reggae was unknown to me until 1973, the year Dolores and I moved to Berkeley. It was Jones' GF Barb who introduced me to the sound.

Probably the deepest song I will ever write! Thanks to the foothills of the Sierras, Nevada County, The North San Juan Ridge, for the inspiration, for the the red dragonfly that visited this songwriting moment, the Hopi 10, the words of guidance and wisdom that found their ways into this song.

High Sierra Morning

High Sierra morning and
All we ever hoped for is the dawn
We have to keep on.
One foot before the other
Place it in the hands of the mother earth.
Oh, precious worth.
So we let go of the shore and
Let our fears recede into the night
It's gonna be alright.

We are our own leaders now
And no one else can tell us how to live
Or what we can't give.
We are honoring the First Nations
And learning from the ancient ones of life
Oh, precious life.
We are standing with the living trees
For salmon runs and healthy seas and peace
Oh, speaking peace

Evolutionary breezes
Scooping up the prayers we make
Doorways open to other ways
And dragonfly say
This could be a good time

All the men are pitching in
To raise the divine feminine in all.
We can't afford to stall.
All the village teach the youth
To see the sacred and the truth and share.
All we need is here.
We release our pain and grief and
See the ancient world becoming new.
It's all inside of you.

Evolutionary breezes
Scooping up the prayers we make.
Doorways open to other ways.
And dragonfly say
This could be a good time.

No Success

I recall when I met The Legend.
I was hoping to create my own and he was living his.

There was a spark in each of us with which we were born,
one common to all men in all places who perform athletic maneuvers high above the ground.

He gave me willingly what I thought I needed then
and I was grateful for his generosity and the small amount of time we spent talking;
but in the years following our meeting I met with little success and saw much failure.

I was willing to settle for what I’d done;
and then other things got in my way;
and soon the dream faded to almost nothing.

Meantime, his legend grew and flourished, his brand became known internationally, as well.

The difference between The Legend and myself became clear to me, eventually:
He had the ability to remain fixed on his goals while I was willing to accept failure.

When The Legend died and the whole world cried
I cried for myself as well.
My Main Chance never came again until later, but in a different discipline entirely.

I would like to say that I will never cry for myself again.
For now that the lesson’s learned the hard way,
"I’ll never take the easy way again," I tell myself.

But, of course, like when making a New Year resolution, I’m only hoping that this will be so;
wish me luck, for it takes some of that to become legendary.

Sometimes things are not in our hands,
but that of Fate.
And she’s a fickle one.
The only thing about her which we can trust is her fickleness.

So let me tell you that I will try my best when I sit down to the desk,
quill sharpened, ink bottle full, and parchment scraped clean,
mind awake and waiting patiently for the Muse to come to my aid.
I still need all the help which I can find
but most of all from my own mind.

Stink Bug Blues
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2hKmlK_MPI

I feel ya! I just went out on my back porch here in Vinton and the entire thing is covered in stink bugs. You can't sit down out there, you'll sit on one, or one will get on you or in your hair, your shoes. One got me on the necklace the other day and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get rid of the smell, I'd washed my neck like 10 times! It would be so nice if we could open the windows around here and get some fresh air...not happening!

A Happy Birthday shout-out for THE JONES!
Seventy is a large number. But this life is not a contest and even if it were age is a lousy criterion for success.

All the same, it's a milestone. So there you go, heading for 71. Knock 'em dead, kid!

A pair of these and a Whillans harness should get anyone up the Mexican Wall.

An alpine start would be advisable, but dammit, no headlamps, Gumby!

The Magnetic Fields - Long Forgotten Fairytale
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNehrGHip00

And a long-forgotten fairytale is in your eyes again
And I'm caught inside a dream world where the colors are too intense
...and nothing is making sense
There's a floating town of eiderdown in a mist of mystery
There's an old enchanted castle and the princess there is me
...decked-out like a Christmas tree

Albert King LP/Wednesday Night in San Francisco

Live recording from June 26, 1968 at the Fillmore,
2 days after my release from the USN, but I was in Camp 4 by then,
taking up residence in a cave in the talus above the trail.

There was a nest of mice in residence and they were welcome to a few
scraps I left for them nightly. Food was stashed in coffee cans
with the lids still attached and put in a paper sack upside down
and that way the little critters couldn't get into the grains, etc.

Which shows that sometimes it takes a mouse to outsmart a mouse.
