Boop-oop bee-boop.
Been thinkin' on Facelift lately, since it's next week.
Today I was given a ride to the event by Jim Valensi from SoCal, a rafter.
He called out of the blue and offered.
We are looking at leaving for the Park on Saturday, which is what I was thinking of doing myself.
Yipee-ki-yay!
Photos of last year's Facelift.

Ha ha! The dotted line entering the south end of Memorial STadium? That's about where the body crack was. Used to TR that with Randy Hamm. Went from the ground up and over the wall into the wooden seats, so useful for belaying.
Go dem Bears!

The Old Man Says "Been There, Done That"
South of the Feather and North of the Kern
There are hundreds of mountains and meadows with fern
They've been there forever ever since I was small
But it was only when I grew up that I heeded their call
I've since climbed on these peaks and cliffs by the dozen
Accompanied by friends and brothers -- even once by a cousin
It's hard for me now to make my way there
Up where the pines leave their smell in the air
But old memories help as they usually will
And I get enough action when walking a hill
Indeed, I do.

A friend of mine I just saw just yesterday seemed fine to me at the time. This morning he was in the hospital with a swollen foot and leg due to a treatable blood clot in his hip. He was lucky, the symptoms can be indicative of serious heart problems. Funny about mortality. We don't know when our our expiration date will come due but we get notices almost every day about all the others.
The Trial
(with edits)
I once dreamed I sat in on
The trial of the century
The earth was accused
Of plotting to abandon us and go away
It lasted for weeks
Protesters came and went
The judge never ruled
The hubbub died and went away
I felt awakened
With a new lease on life
All hope restored
And found new energy from that day
But now the kids have grown
Our hair's turned grey
But for the dogs
There's no one home most of the day
The sink that drips
Needs fixing but
Like so many things
Who knows how long it's been that way?
Our loved ones near or far away
Deep down inside
The truth is that
We're all alone and know it's just that way
My two old dogs
Read how I am
And know me like
I know the sun will rise and set each day
As our life goes on
Eventually it goes away
We don't have to accept it
Until the threshold of our dying day
I wake before dawn
Most every day
And go out with the dogs
We listen to what the owl has to say
The owl just speaks
The truth to me
About who must deal
And so work with what I have each day
Though the darkest night
Remains perpetually dark
Far out beyond the stars
No light ever reaches there or finds it's way
But for now on earth
Where sunlight falls
Life begins anew
With every sunrise somewhere every day
I dreamt I stood
Greeting one by one
All the people I've ever known
But never gave a thought to what the last one would say

Plan A: leave Saturday for Yosemite Facelift, riding with Jim V from SC.
Plan B: no Plan B.
So you'll be on your own again, Palsomine.
Won't be back till the first because I don't want to miss H's pancakes that Sunday morning.

Poets Needed, Easy Gig, Big Bucks
I just now sat down with a cup of coffee
I importuned gently with the gods of poetry
They graciously responded immediately
Giving to us just what you see
I swear, it’s as easy as one-two-three
Just pick a sound and duplicate it
Rhyming really doesn’t take much wit
Listen to hip-hop and all that sh!t
I’m tellinya it’s easy, man, this poetry bit
So help us contribute to America’s lit

Lady Faust behind the Wheel
This one doesn't rhyme
It doesn't even make much sense
I took the midnight
From Seattle to Oroville
A Greyhound o'er the winding backroads
At over seventy five miles per hour
Without chains below Rainier
On icy roads on freshly fallen snow
I forgot to call my wife
With the estimated time
For identifying the body
