[Click to View YouTube Video]Room 273 in the Ahwahnee Hotel has some of the music from this song worked into the wood along the top of the walls. The woodwork was done by Willem Kat, employed as an "artist" in woodworking and finish carpenter, who loved music and the odd ramble/climb--he probably DID most of the non-technical routes and some technical ones, without pro and with no rope.

According to Michael Adams, son of Ansel, Mr. Kat was invited to the Adams home in Yosemite (Best Studio) and Ansel accompanied his wife's singing.

zB:
Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. ~ Albert Einstein

Good one, zB, had not heard that one. Thank you.

As my Grammo used to say, "Each person on Earth is best at Something! Just listen to your Spirit enough to find out what that is." She was a totally excellent person who taught me medicine and other things, and was my biggest fan. :) She was also very wise. I am sure she is smiling at the Albert quote, most especially because of the excellent, sexy Albert featured above, thank you MFM. :) That is just the best. I always thought he was sexy anyway, such a great mind, but whew! Nice. :)

I hope you guys had a super Fourth. I went out to a party with other artists, and so of course we talked about art, looked at art, fondled some of my work, gazed admiringly at some of another artist's very good paintings, walked admiringly around another's superb sculpted art, stroked the smooth satin wood of a guy's unique turned bowls made from walnut trees. Oh, we had good food, too. A really good day, and home in time to watch any fireworks from my own balcony, although it is so hot and dry that I am not expecting much unless they pull a barge out into the Lake and use the barge as a launch pad.

Happy Independence Day! I am going to read Thomas Jefferson and finish all the Bernardo la Paz's words on government in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" because it seems fitting to do these things today. Before any fireworks. Should establish the proper mood.

Oh, and Mouse?
"Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has
learned in any government indoctrination school."--Albert Einstein
There, fixed that for you. :) I know Albert would agree. He thought war was stupid.

Thank you guys for the smiles. :)

MFM, thank you especially for Yuja Wang. Beautiful.

The video looks "promising," neebee. I've looked at the first fifteen or so minutes. Will watch it in the morning. Thank you.

And feralfae, that sounds like a wonderful little party. You're so lucky, blessed, and favored by fate to have friends who share common interests and still like to party, in whatever diminished fashion! ;0)

I could complain about my own state, being one of feeling less in control of my body, therefore limited in range. I've already done so, though; and facts are facts--if one abused one's body as I did at a younger age (throughout my life, actually) one has no right to do so. Stoicism is not my thing, however, so I find it hard.

Tonight, for instance, I wanted to go to one of the floors above to shoot pics of fireworks, but didn't feel physically up to it...COPD is affecting my digestion, as the medicos promised it would, and I'm rather blah feeling today, and the heat is atrocious.

Plus, I'm nowhere near the skill level of Tom Evans (great shoot, there, from your pad, Tom!) in that department, so I only have these meager, corrupt images to share, unlike last year, when I went a bit overboard.

The birdies of the area were disconcerted and some driven from their roosts by the explosions of the artillery attacks of the various neighborhoods near Middle Earth. This starling is a good example and the crow, as well.

The noise is subsiding already. It's barely ten p.m. The ATW#TER Fireworks display was too far in the distance and I had to lean far out the window to take some of these.

ff: I would never argue with your grandma, but sometimes you must have to listen pretty hard.

LOL, I love the image of the chap listening.

Ah, well, listening to spirit does take quieting the mind. But another way to say it is to follow your heart. At least, it seems to work that way.

And if my Grandmothers want to get messages to me, they are very good at doing so. But one must pay attention, of course.

Peace,
ff

"Yes, I did. What a cruel woman, if I may be so modest."

That is the nicest compliment any of my work has elicited. Thank you, ff.

BASS LAKE DITCHING FIREWORKS FOR LASER SHOW THIS FOURTH OF JULY

http://abc30.com/news/bass-lake-opts-for-laser-show-this-fourth-of-july/819360/

Got home from the fireworks show from The Bull's backyard and looked for the soccer score. After some listening, I discovered the game was being played today.

As Steve Kerr once said (if you listen to Steve regularly, you know this is not all, but just a sampling of his talk):

U of A, U of A, U of A, U of A, U of A, U of A, U of A, U of A

Uh, do you have any video of those fireworks, mfm? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to upload without going through utube or some such?

What I'm wondering is how they engineer those "crackly-sounding" ones.

In researching the Bass Lake situation, I encountered a lot of news from the Fresno area and others nearby.

Here's one that teaches the lesson, "if you're going to carry around large amounts of cocaine in your truck, don't tint the windows.

Friday, July 03, 2015 12:07AM
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Merced CHP officer confiscated dozens of pounds of cocaine after pulling over a truck for a tinted window violation.

The officer asked to search 37-year-old Martha Pio's truck and she agreed. A CHP canine found a hidden compartment containing the cocaine with a street value of $300,000.

Pio, a Washington resident, was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail.

Farouk, did you lose your pet? Did he run away? Did he turn on you?Is that what brought out this latest 'streak' through Taco Town?
I got a video for him, too, the little grease spot.

In honor of the soccer players. Very little T&A. Michele used to do gymnastics.

Do not do the blades at home without adult supervision.

Probably not a song I'd be listening to right now, otherwise.

"This is a Presbyterian town, and we keep the Sabbath."--delivered in a heavy Scots burr
The coffee from Coffee Bandits is not "all that." I have to agree with Mike at the Cigar Monkey, that it doesn't compare to Starbucks, much less to Peet's. I've not been drinkin' a lot of coffee, so the tastelessness of their de-caf brew was readily apparent.

Wish we had a Peet's store, whence Garuda Blend comes.

Looking up from the planting, one's eyes are attracted to the tower of the Merced Theatre.
