Big flat rock, ~100 ft above the terminal lake. It was as obvious if a site as I could imagine

We actually walked around the lake on the right, below the moraine in your picture. There was a high traverse track to Glacier Notch right below Gayley.
That did get some rockfall late in the afternoon for sure. But it didn't make sense to go that way to the U-Notch

I'll confirm how unstable that talus traverse is. Stepped onto a boulder
as wide as a kitchen table and it dropped straight down 2 feet. Made a noise
worthy of any horror movie.

Well some things went wrong beyond our control and some things went wrong that were within our control. So unfortunately, we did not get a chance to climb the route. We'll get up there next year...
Regardless, we were at the edge of the glacier by noon on June 20 to take a look. Here are the conditions of the couloirs:
