Hi Oakley!

In Boulder, I'd first recommend Neptune Mountaineering for a fine venue, a good turnout. They traditionally do event Thursday nights. It's not quite the whimsical, wacky world that Gary Neptune created and ruled over with iron fist wrapped around a glass of chardonnay but still a fine store with great folks.

I will stop by there in next day or so and ask about who does their events these days.

Another Boulder place, up-and-coming, that draws a big, enthusiastic crowd and loves to put on climbing/outdoor themed events is Sanitas Brewery:

Their beer is outstanding, too!

Oakley,

Do you have a screening scheduled for New York?

Would love to have you guys in the bat area. Would do my best to promote the event too. I think I can get at least 10+ people to go if it is mid week.

Monday tuesday or wednesday would be perfect. Most climbers are back and recovering their excitement for the next weekend :)

Thank you, Steve! I don't know why I let my username get so dusty. There's the best discerning folks around here.

It was a pleasure to meet you in the Gunks back in 2008 when you were just getting going and I am really stoked to check out your current work.
It has been ages since the Vulgarians roundtable discussions in New Paltz! Now that I'm back I hope to stick around. I know actually owe you a phone call.

I've been through all the scenarios.
Jeff, would love to pick your brain about Tugg. And in general on your film.

maybe I can at least help you find people who would be actually helpful. :)
Nonsense, Ben! Actually helpful people are never as fun.

I have a few messages to send off! Thanks for the replies so far y'all.

Hey Crunch, that would be fantastic. Neptune's reputation (and its beer) precedes itself. If you happen to hear anything from them on who I should get a hold of, keep me posted!

We don't have anything locked down for New York, but I'm trying to set something up with classic space at Rock & Snow. As for NYC, if you have an inside scoop, just let me know.

Vitality, I'd like to come to the bat area. In the Bat cave? Might be able to dig up a batarang. ;)
No seriously, bay area?

Oh, and bhilden NO TRICK NUTS! I inherited some of that questionable gear from my dad, maybe some of those you speak of. Not in the film, but maybe there in some bonus deleted scenes...

I can't wait to see this. Please do come to Boulder and be sure to announce it on supertopo. The trailer with John Bachar, Ed Webster, etc. made me feel like I was sitting around a campfire listening to their stories.

Hey Oakley, the Neptunes events organizer is Ally. Neptunes phone is 303 499 8866. She's was not in last week so I could not talk to her, but should be there next week.

Oakley, have you considered releasing the movie to rent or buy on iTunes, youtube, and Amazon?

This is the 21st century after all and trying to get a theatre lined up, plus advertizing, then collecting the money may limit your audience in BFE.

Currently I'm in a black hole as far climber destinations go so I doubt it would be worth reserving a theatre for the small crowd here that likes to climb but I would be willing to rent it online for $6 to $8 bucks. Make it happen online and you will no doubt see positive results.

Steep Edge is another option one might consider.

Looking forward to getting to see this in some venue eventually! I checked and Brave New Wild is the first Kickstarter project I ever backed. Pleased for you guys to see it coming to fruition. Totally understand how these labours of love can take a while to get put together.

Congrats!

I think V. meant the SF Bay Area, and you'd probably get a few more than the 10+ he promised, I'd make an effort to see the movie. I'm sure others would be intrigued too...

Not sure who you'd contact, but there are many possible venues.

Oakley, my dear, the entire town of Bishop will turn out for Brave New Wild. We fill the auditorium every night for the Banff showings.

I don't remember if I was a Kickstart supporter. Am I getting a DVD?

Hi Oakley,
I produced/directed "Vertical Frontier". Glad to see another woman filmmaker out there! Feel free to get in touch if you want to talk about distribution and festival options. A bunch of the fests we were in are also listed on our website: www.verticalfrontier.org Looking forward to seeing your film. Do bring it to the SF Bay Area!

Thanks for the all the input! Because of this thread, I have a handful of screenings now in the works. Very exciting. Thank you for the community push.

If you are around the 'Gunks, I'll be screening the shorter film about the 1970s era at Rock&Snow this Saturday April 18 and then screening Brave New Wild on Saturday May 23rd. Both screenings are at Rock & Snow and both are free. I will be there in person for both with a few climbing icons for a Q&A afterwards.

Hopefully more to come soon! With Bishop, Neptunes, SF, SLC included!

Like goatboy smellz pointed out, it is the grand 21st century. There will be an option to stream the film sometime soon, to coincide with more screenings. Since the film is flying pretty low on the radar right now, we want to use screenings to get the word out!

Love to see it up in Anchorage, there's something about seeing a climbing film with a theater full of climbers that can't be beat.

Best venue would be http://beartooththeatre.net/ but I don't know how hard it would be to set up a screening. I tried to help coordinate Bachar coming up to do his slide show and they didn't seem that interested.

Hey Oakley... gratz on completion of the project! I sent you a message via fb earlier - happy to put on an event here in Moab if you like. Had fun bringing VU here last October. Let me know, and again, nice work!
