Bay Area venues to try -
The California Theater in Berkeley
The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco
Failing those, I'm sure Sports Basement would happily set up a screen for you.

Moab screening: Tues, May 26th at Star Hall.... I will post details in a few days, just wanted to get the word out so any "plan ahead" types can do so (although "planning ahead" and "Moab" tend to be mutally exclusive terms...)
Thanks, hope to see some of you there!

Hi guys — I’m restarting this thread because I’m organizing a screening of Brave New Wild that is happening in Los Angeles this coming Wednesday March 23rd at the Laemmle North Hollywood @ 7PM. We are having a raffle and Q&A with the director, composer and sound designer afterwards — so it should be a great event — tix are 12 bucks.
Also, some friends are organizing screenings in Orange County on April 7th at the Regency Rancho Niguel 7 in Laguna Niguel (used to be a Mann theater when my friend worked there in high school) ($9). As well as in San Diego on April 19th at the Ken Cinema ($13).
You can get tickets to any of these screenings at this link if interested: https://tugg.com/titles/brave-new-wild
We are organizing the screenings with the help of an online platform called Tugg — which is kind of like crowdfunding for theatrical screenings. We are able to access a lot of great theaters with no upfront costs which is fantastic but the screenings only happen if we sell enough presale tickets — otherwise the screening doesn’t happen.
I’m also a producer on the film and if you can’t make it out to any of these screenings — the film is at last available for pre-order on iTunes, VimeoOnDemand, DVD and will be released on April 12th!
I have met a lot of you in person (some in this film! and others helped with archives and countless other things) and it would be great to see you at any screenings. Thanks and let me know if you have any questions!

Good question! We had talked about Facelift but never had our sh#t together on our end with a finished film. Now that is not a problem! I just emailed Ken about it.

Well, it is the appropriate crowd in the perfect setting. Ken will be all over this!

This flick is showing at the Ken Cinema in San Diego on April 19, AS LONG AS 130 PEOPLE COMMIT TO SEEING IT. Patty and I, along with a small number of friends have "reserved" tickets online. If you are interested in seeing this movie, bump the number of reserved tickets up so that we can see it in San Diego. There are 19 days left to meet the minimum reserved goal.

Loved this movie. One of the best "Yosemite" movies. Saw it in Moab last year.
The neat thing was that Royal's daughter, Tamara, lives in Moab and was there to introduce it.

Definitely would love to bring Brave New Wild to Yosemite. We screened a short film at the Range of Light Film Festival (Steve Bumgardner's beautiful brainchild) a few years back and the audience was fantastic.
Thanks for helping to spread the word. We are only 20 tickets short of selling out our screening in LA on Wednesday but need a lot of help in OC and San Diego. Here is also a link to a trailer we just released on vimeo: https://vimeo.com/156127253

A "sell more tickets for the OC and SD screening" bump.
In San Diego, still need 122 more ticket buyers

Is it possible to put it up on youtube in pay per view format or something similar? I still would love to see this and there is no showings in the BAY Area. Even if there were, chances of staying in on a Friday night for most climbers are slim. Would be great to have it mid week, if possible, better yet putting it out online with the viewers paying for watching. Convenient for all.
EDIT: Nevermind, went to their web site, see the DVD will be available soon.

BUMP for the SOLD OUT show tonight. I was able to get literally the last possible ticket with a little help from Alex. I'm psyched to see some of you there and looking forward to the Q/A afterwards.
Support this film and go see it in Orange County or San Diego as they need more reserved tickets before they can call the showing officially booked.
http://www.bravenewwild.com/
Click "in theaters" at the top for ticket info.
Orange country still needs 40 more tickets sold and Sand Diego needs 111. Jump on 'em before it's too late

I know that Oakley spent quite a few years, running around the country, on a pretty scarce budget, working on this film.
It isn't easy trying to set up interviews with older climbers, when there scattered all over the U.S., and Oakley, and Alex have put a huge effort into this film.
I always thought that these type of films, done well, are worth supporting.
At least the younger generation gains a little perspective.

This film is WORTH watching whether yer a climber or knot. The work, research and editing gone into this is monsterous. If you want some cheap, great entertainment, get to a screening and see what the history of what you love to do is about. Some incredible stories in this film.
Alex and Oakley deserve a huge pat on the back for this undertaking.
Peace
