Got out to allenspark where we skied a 7 mile round trip and gained about 2500ft. Got some nice fresh turns in while hiking a previously unknown to me snow cat track. Could have gained another 1000 ft to the summit of 12000 ft peak from looking at google earth. Quite a good sized hill for CO and this one has easy access from boulder. Start fairly low at 8500ft. Seemed to have good snow which is rare in the front range it seems. Also this was very protected from the wind as it was almost all in the trees. The wind was howling with gusts well over 50 mph. Most of the other places I have skied in the front range can be very affected by the wind.

Tele? TELE? Are you f*#king kidding? I've got 90 f*#king pounds on my back, and the skis (all six pounds of them) and NOT tele skis. When I hit snow, tele will not be part of the equation!

how do you like your Dynastar Mythics that you posted a picture of earlier in this thread, I have a pair of them mounted Tele with the new Meidjo Tele binding, Dynafit style toes, NTN claw underfoot, settable release, brakes, and light weight, best Tele binding I've used by far. I'm heading out to CO late in March for some mixed touring and resort skiing. Contrary to popular belief there are some great new bindings coming out now in Tele.

Scarpa is coming out with new Tele boots, but it still over a year away.

Charlie, your Powder article is a year old! Much of it may be true, but not the statement that the number of Telemark skiers will never increase! One day some young punks are going to wow everybody by launching down some sick slope on light boots and skinny skis, and the cycle will start all over again!

tele, AT or split-all i know is on the hills behind our fair city we have 425 cm base with 20 cm fresh last night and temps dropping this evening -freezing level at 500M with base of skin track at 900M -not ideal but hell its right above van-groovy, and its going off! Might be the best small city in the world when conditions like this line up. Pay no heed to the unaffordability thanks to years of white privilege with antiquated zoning laws, recently supplanted by asian privilege with oddles of cash, some of it from questionable sources.

Gunks Ray, the Mythics are an awesome ski, a little skinny underfoot which is great for longer tours. Nice side cut for some good turning....that said I donít think Iíve ever owned a pair of skis I didnít enjoy!!!

Urmas, oh keeper of the flame....you speak the truth, we will begin again from where we started....perhaps with me just in spirit to bear witness. Iíll give you a shout when in town next month.

All, So great to have a big Pacific front on top of us here in the Sierra tonight, enjoy the new snow.....off to Bozeman in the morning for some more fun...berg heil!!!

I have cut many miles of turns and still have yet to clamp my heel down.
Free your heels and your ass will follow!
The other folks at the areas would always look at my snow encrusted ass and ask where the powder was and I would reply right here and spread my arms. LOL
