Big dump in the Talkeetnas left a tempting surface and some touchy conditions.
Some of the best quality pow of th season. Most of the instabilities were manageable, although one party yesterday got pushed around and had a burial while skinning.
Have fun, dont do anything stupid.... but if you do, handle it well.

There was a sign like that on the front door of the Fairview Inn in Talkeetna. Being an obedient hippie, I went to the back door.

It was locked.

Malemute....now that’s funny, “why can’t they just stay in the woods where they belong?” LMFAO!!!

Sierra LR, think I found that sign in Bozeman....anyway if you find yourself out this way give me a shout, you can use the front door.

I wasn't free heeling, but I did do some skiing in Italy a couple of weeks ago. Here I am heading into Valtournenche where we were staying after a long day. We had also skied into Zermatt Switzerland the day before.

Got out to allenspark where we skied a 7 mile round trip and gained about 2500ft. Got some nice fresh turns in while hiking a previously unknown to me snow cat track. Could have gained another 1000 ft to the summit of 12000 ft peak from looking at google earth. Quite a good sized hill for CO and this one has easy access from boulder. Start fairly low at 8500ft. Seemed to have good snow which is rare in the front range it seems. Also this was very protected from the wind as it was almost all in the trees. The wind was howling with gusts well over 50 mph. Most of the other places I have skied in the front range can be very affected by the wind.

how do you like your Dynastar Mythics that you posted a picture of earlier in this thread, I have a pair of them mounted Tele with the new Meidjo Tele binding, Dynafit style toes, NTN claw underfoot, settable release, brakes, and light weight, best Tele binding I've used by far. I'm heading out to CO late in March for some mixed touring and resort skiing. Contrary to popular belief there are some great new bindings coming out now in Tele.

Scarpa is coming out with new Tele boots, but it still over a year away.
