I got a Cold Cold World pack in the mail to me, arrives next week :D

I'll pray for a series of early November storm systems to blow through Southern Sierra, setting up an early season Thanksgiving week adventure!

I was in sandals, shorts and no shirt 2 days ago here in West Virginia.

Thanks for the reminder, time to get out my ski-tuning toolbox and get at it.

Liking golsens photos above. We used something like that ledge in the second photo for our tents, a few days after, maybe around July 30th.

But skiing Emmons, maybe was a little more adventure than I was up for. Guessing his shots are higher up. Well done golsen.

Crevasses are not dangerous, unless you fall into them.

Some distraction from the political sh*tshow.

Great video by Jordan Manley.... backcountry powder skiing in Changbaishan (NE China near N Korea)... some perspective on modern skiing in China... and the Altai Mtns (far NW), where skiing originated.

Thanks John,

I was a bit concerned about crevasses, especially since I was with my son and his buddy, neither of which had ever skied on AT stuff before. his mother would have killed me! But my son ski raced for years and his buddy did fine. The ski down was the best!

Rainier from Camp Schurman last July

If you want one of the finest ski runs in the Lower 48, check out Mt. Adams.
Red line up, Blue line down. Last June - Killer!

Pray for snow.

Another fun ride is Mt. Hood. Here is a guy climbing up, last June.

We are getting some T-day deposition up here too which bodes well. I usually don't even think about getting out until the knee biters are well buried.

We sure could use some snow. Hiked a long ways to make a few fresh turns. Indian Peaks seems to have some wind

A long time friend of mine started a new skin company.

If you're in the market, be sure to check them out. Quality product, made entirely in Montana, competitive pricing. Help out the little guy.

Thanks for the skins heads-up!

Any folks on here using the NTN boots/bindings, specifically the Freedom binding? Thoughts/ideas on touring and lift served with the NTN? Last year I wrenched my knee causing MCL/meniscus damage and will not ski and non-release again. I have been tele-ing for 20+ years. I tried Alpine a couple times and to it lacked any soul(sorry for the corny term) and flow to me. I grew up skating and surfing so I thought about split-boarding but I prefer to tour so the constant putting the board together and then taking apart is kind of a dealio breaker. So, NTN it is!
