WIlbeer this is such a great thread, thanks for making it happen..even if you are a telemarker ;-)

Berg , thanks for sharing that super creative clip..btw the backflip at 2:58 is pretty badass when you notice the telephone/power lines nearby.

Anyone have any used Telemark boots, size 10.5 they need or want to sell? Thats a 28.5 mondo size. I would really appreciate any leads. I am looking to spend around $150-$175 for a decent pair.

Thanks

Rob (PM me if you want)

Willbeer. Hows your snorkel and flippers working out..... I am in a deep depression here as the rain fog and warm wind steal the snow and ice......

This is my local ski hill today. They depend on real snow .

Nothing in the bc either.By this time I can find something around to ski.Or even the gullies would be frozen enough to TR.ALL sedimentary rock around here, the only time of year you can climb anything is when there is some solid ice, otherwise it is a 3-5 hour trip,to the dacks.

I doubt there is much there either,sad....

60F here yesterday.Not a chance.

So I hear you ,Tradman.

But ,Hey, Merry Christmas,It will come soon!

There was 3-5" of new at Squaw Valley this morning. Cold. Snowing off and on throughout the day. Damn good, considering... The lower mountain is still mostly bare. They opened one run to the base but it looked bad.

Sick, just saw this thread. I've never locked the heel and never will. Tele has gone from being the efficient way to get up and down a hill to being a way too heavy dangerous way to have fun. But once you become ok at it, why change? My NTN/megawatt setup weighs 3x a dynafiddle/wailer setup, but at least i have an excuse for sucking.

Not that anyone cares....

Here's a short, fun, must-read (IMO) for all telemarkers. I mentioned it a couple pages back and incorrectly attributed it to the well known back country skier, Andrew McLean, who is quoted in the article.

http://unofficialnetworks.com/2011/11/telemarking-huh

Last week I had a tele-binding malfunction (you'd think I'd have checked it and fixed it during the long autumn wait for snow...). Like a dope I didn't notice it until I was in line for first chair at Squaw Valley. So I went and demo'd some excellent, fat, rockered downhill skis (Brahma blizzards) with downhill boots and bindings. I have both downhill skied and tele skied for many seasons, but for whatever reason (make one up) I hadn't been on downhill skis for 15 years. I observed: it took several runs until I felt comfortable on these, they were noticeably heavier than my tele set-up; parallel turns were much easier; my legs lasted twice as long, and it was fun as hell.

First season on skis. Haven't locked my heel yet! First day ever on skis was skate skis! After a week, I made it out to Glacier Point ski hut! I'm pretty psyched right now living in Yosemite. First winter in the Sierra.
