I only have a couple weeks worth of Dungeness crabbing under my belt, but it was pretty memorable.

A great spot is the jetty at Doran Park in Bodega Bay, CA. Bait a ring trap, toss it in the water for 15 minutes, and pull up tasty red rock and Dungeness.

Dungeness are great tasting but too much work. I'm a King Crab man.
For Thanksgiving at Prudhoe Bay they offered the traditional turkey with
all the timmings for the Texans and King Crab flown in the day before for
us Alaskans. I grab my cafeteria tray and walk past the Texans to the back
of the line where they were handing out the crab and handed him my tray.
Didn't need no stinking plate.
"Fill it up, please."
I guarantee you that I ate two whole tray-fulls of Kings.

Pulled up 26 the other day in Oregon over a few hours. They are work to eat but they are so yummy. My favorite way to cook them is roasting them in the oven.
-Boil crabs for 5 minutes in seasoned sea water
-Clean crabs
-Oven to 400-450
-Combine red onions, garlic, butter, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a roasting pan of some sort.
-Cook for a little while
-Add the crabs and mix the goods all over them
-Cook for 10-15 minutes, sometimes I will baste them once or twice.
-Serve with a good loaf of bread
Edit:
Ooops, the dude above me posted this already...

From the local market, I'm partial to just lemon...but above ideas look good too.

Yeah, most the time I only eat them boiled with or without lemon. But the roasted ones are awesome when you wanna feel fat, make a mess, and do even more work to eat them.

Winchester Bay, OR:
If there's a more crab-crazy place on the West Coast, I've haven't seen it.
In Oregon, Dungeness season never ends, and an out-of-state crab license goes for about $20. I might give it a try my next trip up the coast.
