Welcome Joe.....the greatest thing about Fresno is its close relationship to the southern Sierra. I have no doubt you'll make the best of it. Send me a PM for some backcountry skiing further north up near Echo Summit if you find yourself heading this way. Beautiful family, you're a lucky man which I'm sure you know.....nice to see a sincere and positive post here on ST!

Having raised two children in the foothills east of Fresno I will state that if you raise them right they'll get the hell out of here ASAP and you won't have to worry about having a 30 year old living with you in what could be your spare bedroom.

Joe an Heidi,

Leave Supertopo now while you can. Take your cute little kids and your powder blue matching helmets and stay up north. There is nothing on this site but a bunch of old men bickering about politics and bolt wars from the 1970's.

Actually.....now that I think about it, there are a few reasons to stay; let me see...

1. My Trip Reports. Pretty much the finest writing you'll find on the internet. Think Tolstoy meets Hemingway meets Mary Poppins. Just go to the Trip Reports section, type in my name, steep a mug of Earl Grey and enjoy.

2. John Long, Werner Braun and other masters reside here. They are mythical creatures of Yosemite yesteryear who hold the keys to the intellectual and spiritual realm of the interwebs. How often do you get to hang out with your heroes?

3. Supertopo is a direct link to the weirdness and uniqueness and community of the tribe we call climbers. I've met many of these folks in person and have forged some lasting friendships through this site.

4. Beta. I am a beta hound and the route/range/wall beta here flows like honey whence you seek it.

5. Stay away from the political and religious threads. They hold nothing but slander, malice and wasted energy.

6. Trip Reports in general. You are full of stoke and are a fantastic writer.....so sit down and post up a Trip Report man, it'll make you famous around here like me.

6b. Norwegian. The finest poet online and the lyrical bard of supertopo. His way with prose is magical and worth hanging out here alone.

7. That's all I got. I'm stoked you are coming to Fresno! Call me when yall land and we'll bring you out for dinner. We got chickens and goats for the kids to play with and we can plan an adventure.

So welcome to Supertaco, the strangest and coolest campfire you'll ever hang out around. You'll fit right right in.

Scott
