Yes, thanks to Dave.
I'm a big believer in the idea that our bodies know better than anyone what we need at a given time. If he wants deep rest and breathing help to get it, then that's what he really needs in spite of the medical people wanting quick consciousness and cure.
Again, everything I've read says that people in deep comas often remember what is said around them so act as though he can hear and register every word. Keep the conversation positive, and reassure him from time to time that you know he needs rest, that he's doing fine for the conditions, and that you expect a full recovery.

Thinking of you Coz. Recover well, regardless of how long it takes. There is always plenty of living yet to do even when we've been cut and pasted back together!

best wishes coz for a full recovery, and to all of us who work off the deck, take the time to use your safety gear, i'm guilty of it myself, its a pain in the ass to work high with a harness and lanyard, it's bulky and slows you down, and it's easy to blow it off, we recently had a fatality here on the eastside with a scaffold accident. take the time, and if you a superviser/ contractor make sure your guys are working safely.cheers paul linaweaver

Thanks for your update, Dave. Your post is a very sobering one. Having spent 25 years in health care and spending a month in ICU with Dan I now see what
our friend, Scott, is challenged with.
I so agree with Jan about the patient hearing what you are saying. I and many family members spoke to Dan when he was in an induced sleep state. I could see by his face he was hearing. Wonder if Mom and Sister could read to Scott all the encouraging comments from his friends here? Maybe you already have.
For those of you that pray, redouble your prayers.

hey there say, lynne... hope we can keep up our joint prayer time, too...
sadly, for about 2 weeks, i slipped out, and i only prayed at various times, and did not get to do the 'two of us' in union, as, i was not feeling well, :(
but, i am back to the 12:oo am here, being 9:00 pm for you...
for our 'double hit' and--
perhaps others can join in for those hours, again, too... for the months... :)

Still checking this thread daily and keeping Scott in my thoughts and prayers. Having my husband recently in an induced coma for three days I can understand the trials that Scott's family is experiencing, even though I was fortunate that it was only for three days. The caretakers need to take good care of themselves so they can take care of Scott and they are in my thoughts and prayers too.

You probably forgot what my husband and I would say while flailing on a climb with you. "Beam me up, Scotty". I'm sure no one else has ever saif that before - HA.
Well, we would like to beam you up to us....or perhaps better to your family, colleagues, and closer friends. We still delude ourselves and count you as a firend. We continue to keep the torch alive.
I nver give up. If you need to borrow some of my tenacity, please grab hold of it.

Great News!! Scott has come to the surface. Scott is off sedation and the ventilator and is responding to the nurses, doctors and friends in small ways with fingers blinks etc.
They even got a smile from him! Will see what the next couple of days reveal.
