Since the OS update 2 days ago the copy function for text is totally shot on my iPad. It only copies blocks of text and is very hard to scale down to specific words or sentences---as it persists in snapping back to the block.
This is a major first-world pisser.
Also I don't know if I really like the tab and refresh header disappearing everytime you scroll up or down. This has made what use to be an easy 1 step function into 2 steps everytime you go to the header for a tab or to refresh. This is an additional step without really gaining anything in the process. Dumb.
Never upgrade right away unless you are a cutting edge guy. Goes for any operating system on any platform. Screwed up 8.1 isn't atypical.
But yeah, they screwed something up with Cut & Paste. Let's hope they clean that up. Bitch on the Apple site.
pinch the screen and you can see little screens of all your tabs. I haven't decided if that's better or not, but you get a better idea of what you have open. Doesn't seem to take any longer. But it seems they should give you the option. I use four different iOS versions, and Safari works different on them all.

Agreed DMT
I would agree on Samsung, HTC, Motorola and even LG But the apple is overpriced, not top end and you pay top end. I'm not familiar with the Nokia windows phones but I have been tempted.
Smartphones are still in their infancy.. well toddlerhood. Very useful so far yet they have a ways to go to be the tools they can be. I would expect windows to come out on top. But right now windows has it's own problems.
So far no OS has it right. No Flash compatibility, e-mail issues, lack of scrollbars. unnecessary extra steps for various tasks. Integration with other devices and platforms could be much better.

depends what you want to do with it.. what functions are most important to you, and how much you want to spend.
Camera? Internet? waterproofness? Screen size/multimedia usage Work compatibility? This years models from all the manufacturers are not much of an upgrade for the premium price. I'm not wasting money upgrading this year.
You might like an iPhone 5 for a great price (like even free) if you are used to iPhone.
For me the Samsung Note3 works best. Love the larger screen and the ability to take appointments with the pen while talking to customers is unmatched. I wish it were waterproof but sadly the new Note4 is not waterproof (unlike the S5) so I won't be upgrading.

Windows will not catch up in the mobile market anytime soon. Android continues it's steady march to be the one to rule them all. Google has everything integrated seamlessly. Apple has everything integrated nicely as well but there just too expensive. I've said this a bunch of times but I'll say it again. Apple is not the best tech company in the world. They are, however, the best marketing company in the world.

The funny thing about all the reviews is that there is almost no mention of how well the phones work as phones. It's all about the gadgets. I do a fair bit of email on my phone, as well as using the calendar. Besides being forced to get a new phone (mine is literally falling apart), I'd like to upgrade to 4G, or whatever version of 4G is currently operational.
It's not that I don't use apps -- I do -- but I still want the primary function to be a telephone. I'd like decent reception in somewhat remote places, good functionality, and clear audio.
Anyone use the new Amazon phone?

The new amazon phone is a gimmick.. doesnt do anything new that is useful, has a poor screen and limited android like operating system.
Reception and Data speeds are more based on your carrier. Go with Verizon or ATT for most coverage. If you plan to go overseas with your phone get ATT since their hardware is compatible with most of the world. All carriers have dead spots but you get less of them with those two carriers. Of course make sure your phone can use 4gLTE on your carrier. You might want to check with people in your neighborhood to see that the carrier you choose works well at home before getting stuck with a bad signal.
Call quality is generally very good on mid to upper level phones.

Small wonder that Apple stock tanked today.
Time to buy shares!!
Nice Joey Tribute, Ricky D!
Freddy, are you covered by AppleCare? I'm gonna go for a 128 gig iPhone 6 ( not the 6 plus, it's Too, big) along about february. Droids and the rest talk a good game, but they don't deliver(!) and who needs to reinvent the wheel? Especially in such a clunky cludgey way?
Apple for life!
Nothing else comes close!

Mike,
It's the quality of the phone that I dislike with the iPhone 5s. Not as good as the 4, I think it just sucks.

I'm resisting 8 just like i resisted 7. Still getting used to it. My favorite camera app lost a function which enabled me to shoot one handed. Very lame. I think i'll be sending an email over that one. If your phone is slow, clean it up! Just saved all my data and reverted to factory for the first time. My 4s is way faster again, even with 7 on it.

Mike, I would do that if only reverting to 'factory' also meant going back
to iOS 6. Somebody on the iPhone forum said there is a way to go back to
a previous iOS but it sounded way sketchy, like runout sketchy.
