Snorkelling down on the Yucatan at Christmastime. Akumal I think?

These guys were everywhere:

The water was a bit murky, though:

And eagle ray swam by:

But I sure couldn't keep up to him!

Maybe they call them eagle rays because of their face?

Time for margaritas and cervezas! Adios, tortugas!

I like mud turtles...dropping them off that is.

Seriously, I need a turtle. Think my cat would attack it though?

TURTLE AND FROG

He sat on the edge of the riverbed
Gazing out at the crystal waters ahead
He longed to be surrounded by tranquil serenity
But every lily pad ignored his plea

"Why can't I stand upon the water like a King?"
Every night a mournful song he did sing
Unbeknownst to him, it was a beautiful melody to one underneath
She surfaced one day to see whose song she had been bequeathed

"My good sir, why are you filled with sorrow?"
"I do not believe I can make it to tomorrow.
You see, I dream of the river but it left me in abandon."
"Hop upon my back, and we can get there in tandem."

Hope ignited within his heart
He hopped upon the turtle as they made their start
With help he had achieved his biggest dream
And they spent their days traveling together along the stream

I find turtles crossing roads a few times a year. They are always helped on their way, as they're great creatures and don't need to get squished.

Although Leonardo was kinda a prude, he was my favorite turtle because he had a samurai sword. Those other Italian artists had some stupid weapons.

Lol.. I bet Raphael could beat Leo with his Sai any day. They were designed to block swords. I always thought Mike's Nunchucks were pretty bad ass too.

"For behold, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.
The flowers have already appeared in the land;
The time has arrived for pruning the vines,
And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.
The fig tree has ripened its figs,
And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along!'"

Find myself a carapace to live in
I forget to mention, forget to mention Memphis
Home of Elvis and the ancient Greeks
Do I smell? I smell home cooking
It's only the river, it's only the river

The turtle lives 'twixt plated decks
Which practically conceal its sex.
I think it clever of the turtle
In such a fix to be so fertile.
- Ogden Nash

I like turtles a lot. They suck at eating though.
