Sounds exactly like the REEL rock flick. It is interesting how the same story could be sold over and over and over and over.

Interesting side note on that RS cover up there.. both of the cover subjects are now deceased. Vanity (Denise Katrina Matthews) shuffled off her mortal coil in February of this year due to renal failure from early drug use.

Valley boys are old ancient sh!t now.

Guys base jumping back then with potatoe sacks for canopies.

Guys playing baseball and football in the fields.

Guys drag racing down El Cap straight.

Water skiing in Tenaya lake.

Guys carryin weed from the lake in shoppin carts.

Guys comin back from Nam with a jar of ears in it.

Guys swagin wires around their necks.

Huge beer parties and fire breathing in C4.

Guys putin up psychedelic El Cap routes.

Guys hittin over 100 mph on skis back then and surviving hideous egg beaters to boot.

And on and on and on.

What's with these modern climbers?

Have they become sterile ........?

Do they only know how to woot now and drive boring cars???????

Warner fregot Sick Rylvester skiing off the Cap not once but two or thrice times.

And bringin' in the first 5.11 musta been a trip.

Shutting down the drive-thru-ness of Cramp 4--BOGUS!

Then re-naming it Stunnyside--BOGUSER YET!

And a topo-filled climbing guide...line drawings for the illiterate.

I drew stick figures in mine of some dude soloing hard pitches. TRUE STORY!

Those were the days, alright.

I *almost* spent the summer of 1983 working for the Curry Company in the valley. An inflection point in my life for sure.
