Agreed most people on this forum would like to imagine him failing. The older they are the more they seem to have invested in seeing him and his young "whippersnapper" peers meet their come-uppance. After all these kids aren't the real hard men of yore. Well news flash old timers - your ship has sailed. The times they are a changin (the old timer really "dig" cliched 60's references)

I wasn't being snarky and the amount of fixed gear is irrevelant to my definition "trad". It would just be nice to see this kid crush some Yose splitters, [though] how hard is it to stick your fingers in and twist, right?

Definitely not hatin' on Ondra, giraffe-neck or not, he (and other 'sporto wankers') have proved many times that they have the skills to take on trad, bigwall even alpine challenges. Not all of them have the affinity to try, but a lot of the determination and focus needed for 'bigger' exploits are also invaluable for climbing 100 9a routes (WTF? seriously? yes: http://eveningsends.com/climbing/adam-ondra-95-climbs-9a-harder/);

Having said that, the routes in this video are pretty mellow for 'world class' status. They are regularly climbed by people you have never heard of.

But again - I am sure he could, and will, climb much, much harder.

Jeeeez......Of course Ondra couldn't climb a crack - he's European isn't he - no hard cracks to be done in Europe, even less in the part of the world he comes from.

Particularly if you discount the difficult, runout, off widths in Dresden and across the border on the Czech sandstone, (On which he grew up) Mello, and other Italian granite crags. And of course no one else from Europe has ever managed to do any hard cracks in the US have they?

Oh, hang on a sec, a couple of weedy Brits did do quite well I recall, but then they cheated by preparing themselves with a bit of training in a (god forbid) cellar....... I think they concluded their trip when they couldn't find anything hard enough.

I have little doubt that if he wanted to, Ondra could come over to the US (and if he needed to, learn some crack skills in short order - like those other shite Europeans, the Hubers did.) He probably just can't be arsed, and let's face it why should he be - there's more to climbing than the just Valley.
