Love my car. Very comfortable and I've slept many times in it. I just throw in a mattress. Or not. The passenger seat folds down to lying position.

If I could have whatever I wanted I would have a VW bus with a new Jetta engine,
In the winter anything that gets good gas milage and is all wheel drive. Probably a Subaru something..
If I was rice I would get a sprinter and have that company that converts them to four wheel drive do the conversion. If I could afford that I am pretty sure I would never go home!

This was a pretty darn good climbing rig. Syncro 4x4 that went just about anywhere :) So much room in those things. i feel the reguler vanagon has more usefull liveing space than the westy. All those closets and sh#t vtake up your liveing space. i built a nice little kitchen from dumpster wood and my vanagon rocked. I always hit my head on the fcking overhead cupboard of Isa's westy and the bed is only about a 3rd the size of the bed in the Vanagon. Where Isa is sitting in this photo would be a closet in the west that is a bitch to even get into as the fold out table blocks it unless the table is in the out possition...

I had a Subaru GL wagon (predecessor to Outback)....put 315K on that baby. Did lots of mods over the years- ripped out the back seat and installed a sleeping platform...a bit snug, but I could sleep in it w/gf (I'm 6'4"). Put two engines in it myself, and countless CV joints.
Sounds epic, I know...but Subarus are kinda like VW's that way...lots of cult attitude towards 'em. My Subaru bivy sack took me to endless adventures.

Thinking about ditching my 2002 Toy Highlander buying a new Subie Outback. Anyone have any feed back on the Outback? Can it be set up to sleep in (comfortably)?
I'm 6'2" and I can't sleep in the back of my work 4Runner. I can stretch out comfortably in the back of my outback. Can carry and almost tow just as much, but everything including gas and tires are half the cost.

The Managon. Can go anywhere with enough food and water for 3-4 people self contained for 2 weeks.

Hey, I think I used to own that Pontiac Le Mans. I sold it in Yosemite for song back in 1979 or 1980. It had a bolt installed somewhere on the drivers side.

A Vespa was used by Georges Livanos to get to the Dolomites
